The announcer was talking about the fact that the lyrics of the song are written for female to sing, because they say at one point "be the only man to say", so the announcer was joking that Dimash is split between girl and a boy. About Lara Fabian: I personally love the song Je sui malade - you will be absolutely surprised not only by her range, precision, and technique, but also acting and huge emotions she can evoke.

Dimash could easily have changed a few words (just two lines with minor alterations) and made the song into a male-speaks-to-female version, but he didn't. So, error on his part? -- and the music manager (rat-tailed Aray Aydarhan) said the song was a bit of a schizophrenic piece? Knowing the Fabian song myself (she wrote the lyrics), I thought so originally, but lately, I've wondered if Dimash, as was done intentionally later in "Mlle Hyde" (another song written by Fabian), didn't perform the song as a male-female piece. I haven't tried to tease out the male/female sections but it would be an interesting thing to do.

The man with the glasses is Terry Lin an amazing singer from Taiwan. You will see him quite a lot as he practically adopted Dimash during the show and they supported each other during their performances - Dimash calls him Lin Papa. The two developed a really sweet and respectful friendship. Terry is the best discovery due to Dimash.

Dimash understands the importance of conveying the real story of music through performance. His total commitment to the story in appearance, dress, body language, and emotion release is like a mini-opera. Or a Popera if you like. Hs intense operatic, blues, jazz, folk, world, and pop music training are all elements within the story. Every performance is a work of art that captures the Yin and Yang of humanity. Without vibrational balance, we are lost, which I believe Dimash totally understands through his own great humanity. The world is hungry for that reconnection.

Great to see you again reacting to Dimash! I would love to see you react to Olympico/Ogni Pietra, because it will show you another side of Dimash! Full opera, specially written by Igor Krutoy for him (who wrote several songs for Lara Fabian) and yes, he won the price for best Opera song in Russia with it. By now Lara Fabian and Dimash are good friends. They performed together to amo cosi with Aida. Gorgeous! And Lara Fabian wrote his lyrics for the song Your Love, which Igor Krutoy composed for Dimash. And nice fun fact is that Dimash as a child allready was a fan of Lara!

Dimash made this Adagio his own and took it to the next level. You could see so many people in the audience overcome by emotion and crying, because Dimash's singing had touch their heart and soul. Dimash's voice gives me goosebumps and chills every time. Now I have the NEED to listen to him every day. This is a happy addiction that I will never quit. I can listen to him until the day I die. DIMASH IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!

Amazing performance but the World's Best cut the performances of all the competitors so severely for the tv airing that I don't prefer them. Dimash sang All By Myself in the Singer series so you can see the entire performance there.

WOW, Jacob! Wonderful reactions to this unique young singer. As a classical violinist for 60 years, I fell in love with this voice after I heard this song when he kick started Biden's inauguration week... the tears started after a few notes and I was Dimashed by the time he he got to the 1 verse! Sadly I don't play anymore thanks to arthritis in my hands, (probably a punishment for all the years they spent on scales, trills and arpeggios etc!).; so listening to beautiful music that reaches my soul is my life now. Oh, I've been sooo waiting for your reaction to this performance, Jacob--and you didn't disappoint!! So--brace yourself :D --I actually had to take notes to remember everything you touched on because this is one of my favorites by him. (Pleeeeease don't hate me.) Let's see: As for the translations, don't worry--it's not you; many times I've found out they make no sense to an English speaking viewer, especially the ones that are auto translated. But basically from what I've understood others to say is that Lara Fabian is applying the musical term of "Adagio" (meaning slowly, for anyone who doesn't know) to a potential relationship, for someone she'd been searching for in her heart, to enjoy letting it build. Basically having patience. Other Dears may be able to correct me on that. It's true--he was SO beloved after just his first performance of SOS that within ONE week, he had 600 MILLION hits on the Chinese version of KZread and people immediately began lovingly calling him "Our Little Imported Brother" as a term of endearment...which I find especially adorable as Dimash is 6'3". LOL Some more behind the scenes info: And exactly because of his kind and loving personality, he DID become good friends with all the other contestants--they even chipped in and bought him some knee pads as a funny gesture LOL.....but especially with Jam Hsiao, the lead singer and keyboardist with the guys from his band Lion (the guys sitting on the couch--Jam is the one with short hair in black sitting next to one of the guitarists, Lee-Q, with the long hair--all from Taiwan)......as well as the man with the glasses who commented on his breath support, Terry Lin, also Taiwanese, who is legendary in China and whose looks belie that he's in his 50's. Terry and Dimash formed a wonderful bond of like a father and son during the competition, with Dimash coming to affectionately calling him "Lin Papa." Since The Singer 2017, Dimash has performed on stage with both Jam & Lion as well as Terry more than once. Here's a bit from a New Year's Eve event that Dimash did with Jam on 12/31/19 ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/dJes2NCEhprXccY.html ) and a thoughtful "Lin Papa" surprising Dimash in a studio on Christmas Eve 2019 with a cake ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/l3aVp8GnoavUqbQ.html ). The week before was Dimash's performance of "Uptown Funk"--for the first and only time he scored fairly low when compared with the other contestants and he was determined to give his all the next week with this rendition of "Adagio." Haha--I'd say he succeeded!! I tell people, if you want to witness passion--here it is!!! His English pronunciation might not have been the best at that time (he has GREATLY improved since 2017), as he literally knew only about a dozen words and phrases in Mandarin and English. (Two of which were that "Love you too!!" to a fan as he walked out of the studio, and his never failing "Shay Shay" (Xie Xie) thanking everyone. :D ) BTW-- his family has explained many times that his habit of acknowledging the audience with his arms out wide was never encouraged, let alone taught. They've said that at 3 years old, his mother (an opera singer) and father (a contemporary singer) had just finished a performance together somewhere when Dimash jumped out of his chair, ran up to the stage, putting his arms out wide and taking a bow, as his parents had just done. He's referred back to it as it just kinda felt like the right thing to do at the moment, although he wasn't exactly sure why. It's simply ingrained in his very core. For ME, it's just an example of reincarnation, where he's already done it thousands of times! As always, a great reaction, Jacob! I feel you have an important message when you talk of how Dimash is being so patient with this song; how "creating subtle growth" and taking his time, using this extremely subtle, nuanced control of keeping the same note stable while switching from head to chest voice. "Creating subtle growth in the song" and "giving it room to grow"--I love those--another Lesson in a Nutshell! I also thought your example showing us this nuance by singing it yourself really made things clear and brought the point home. Very helpful! Thank you for your nuggets of vocal wisdom each week--I always look forward to them. And if you're still going in order, next week's performance is not only audibly but also visually sooo stunning! This performance meant so much to him as he loves to share the culture of his beloved Kazakhstan, whenever he can. (And finally, thank you--yet AGAIN--for putting up with another "War and Peace" from me.)

👉 The interpretation of the song by Dimash is great. He touches my heart and soul ... every time. This song belongs in Lara Fabian's repertoire, a world-famous singer and songwriter. She wrote the lyrics many years ago to this classical baroque melody that cannot be assigned to any particular artist with certainty. Today it is one of the most popular works of “classical music”. The composers Rick Allison, Dave Pickell and Lara Fabian arranged the piece into a pop song. You should definitely react to Lara Fabian. Then you understand why she is a great role model for Dimash.
