Almost 40 years later and this song and her singing still gives me goosebumps.
Cyndi is so great! She should be more remembered and young generations should discover her amazing material.
What's interesting is, this is one of her least vocally demanding songs. If you listen to sing Money Changes Everything live on her official KZread channel you'll host her hit about 8 G5s on a row. It's incredible. This song doesn't show off her vocal ability

She’s an underrated singer. I personally didn’t know how incredible her vocals are, until I watched her sing in concert live, right here on KZread. And I’m from the 80’s, and was very aware of her, and seen her videos a lot.

So true X
You have a good ear for the nuances of vocal technique. As a singer, I find this interesting to watch. Subscribed.
Awww Cindy makes me feel butterflies in my stomach, her voice is incredible despite her age. Wonderful woman! 😍

Yes she is!
Ah, songs of my youth ;) in this performance I felt like she started out a bit Stevie Nicks-esque and when she went for a bit of roughness, a bit of power she had a bit of Bonnie Tyler to her voice. Fantastic performance! Thanks for reacting to her! What a throwback that was
Wow this is a throwback. As an Aussie, when the video played I was like is that the old Australian Idol stage? Yes, yes it was!

Loved that show! And I'm Canadian, can think of plenty of singers from that show I'd love to see Beth react to.
Love your channel so much dear, hugs from Brazil! 🥰
Thank you for posting and understanding the brilliance of my favorite Diva, Cyndi. She's been a part of my life since I was 10, so nearly 36 years. Witnessing people who don't understand her talent see her for the first time live is so much fun. I've seen her convince Meat Loaf, Cher, Tina Turner and Rod Stewart fans into giving her a standing ovations as the opening act.
Some voices are very distinctive... almost like a fingerprint. This is a clear one. Loving these videos, Beth. Keep up the good work. Love the channel!

Thanks!
I enjoy the fact that she never chains herself to one way to perform even her most popular songs.
Thank you, thank you Beth for this reaction....I love Cindy Lauper...
She reminds me of my teenage years. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro Brazil
So meticulous at listening, love it! You are educating me indeed.
Beautiful voice
What makes her so unique is her over-the-top take on the prototypical Queens, NYC accent, sort of like the Ramones. She and I happened to be born at the same hospital in Queens, for what it's worth, so I've always liked her :) As if she needed it, further validation came for her when Miles Davis started covering this song during the mid-80s.

Cyndi and come back to 80's!! ❤ I really love yoy Beth!! Thank you
Have loved Cyndi Lauper since the first time I saw her on MTV a million years ago. Thank you so much for spotlighting what a wonderful singer she is. My favorite performance is of "True Colors". If you could, please react to her vocal power in that one. Thanks!
Thanks for doing a lot of stuff getting my generation back to youth - Cindy Lauper, Ann Wilson (Heart), Cher, Aerosmith - as well as some of our recent faves as well :) Highly appreciated! What about Loreena McKennitt or - I bet you don't know - Walela (Coolidge Sister) like The Warrior or Amazing Grace in Cherokee? :) Keep up the great work!
All while playing an instrument, and very well...
Great analysis Beth, your expressions tells all,as a NYer myself this is a treat.Cindi always walks the walk.....

So true!
Hello Beth Roars! As I am no longer young my knowledge of music extends back a few decades. When I was young I often heard older musicians rating songs and many considered "Hoagy Carmichael's" "Stardust" the finest song to be written at that time. I believe this song is so beautifully written, I mean "suite case full of memories", just simple lyrics like that and yet evoke everything you like from lyrics.I think Cindy Lauper's genius is her song writing abilities.
Cyndi Lauper is F'n awesome!!!
I love Cyndi's voice. You should react to 'I'm Gonna Be Strong' or 'Money Changes Everything' live, because those song really show her vocal range. :)
I love this song by Cindy. She is amazing
Ooooh good job. the best voice of the world, i love cindy lauper from spain 🇪🇦
Great choice for a reaction video!

Thank you!! 😁
I wonder why nobody has done a review of her song which Celine Dion has revived. This song showcased Cyndi Lauper's lowest range. What amazed me most is how she was able to pull up to the highest note only to bring it down again. This is her sexiest song. Imagine her in a bedroom voice in some parts of the song and her high notes give you the same feeling of anticipation and excitement in seeing your lover. The Music and song is actually a sweet caterpillar ride. The song is I Drove All Night😘
You've got this color-blocking thing down pat, Dear. And the result is ... lovely. 😊
I absolutely adored Cindy back in the 80s. I was in junior high when she got really big. I really like this version of this song.
“She’s quite unusual” That’s what she said. 😂😂😂
I saw her play an acoustic set at Glastonbury. Having grown up with her music that Acoustic set was absolute awesome. To my respect for her to another level.
Time after time is a timeless song, but I wish you had reacted to a song where Cyndi showed her true potential as a vocalist. Here are some examples: I'm gonna be strong, money changes everything (the 2003, At Last.... tour version is awesome and it is available on youtube), crossroads with Jonny Lang (the DVD version is also available on youtube) , etc. The video is awesome, though! Thanks.
Brilliant voice, i love Cyndi
As a kid who was born in 1981, I had my fair share of crushes... but no one ever came close to Cyndi Lauper. If I had to guess I'd say Tina Turner is a close second. My mom *loved* her and played her all the time. Actually Beth, you should really react to "What's Love Got To Do With It" the music video is actually amazing.
Almost 40 years later shes still feelin the music. Love it
Loved this trip to the 80s. Would love to see your reaction to madonna singing sooner or later at the oscars.
You said “She’s so unusual.” That’s her life and a name of her album in a nutshell.

The 80's... they really don't make 'em like they used to.
Cyndi Lauper has a 4 octave range which she started using more later in her career. When she was very young she severely damaged her vocal cords recklessly singing rock and roll (she was told she would never sing again) but after years with a vocal coach she rebuilt her vocal cords and became the phenomenon she is today. When she decides to show her vocal range and power it is mind numbing how great a singer she really is. An example is her singing the old time torch song "At Last" in the marriage scene of Bones TV series.
funny story about cyndi... when she was attending the recording of "we are the world" in the 80ies (big charity single with loooads of celeb singers, all in one studio to get the feel of a choir i guess), the postproduction team had unwanted sounds on the song and didn't know what tot do with them. turns out, it was the chinking of cyndis earrings or something like that. they managed to filter it without all the celeb singers having to come back and redo :)

In the behind the scenes/making of “we are the world” video they show a lot of that and they had her take off the jewelry, perhaps they filtered out something, I’d suggest watching that if you haven’t.

I remember seeing the VH1 documentary of that. The most interesting part was when Steve Perry (aka, The Voice), Journey's lead singer, was sitting near Cyndi as she recorded her part and marveling at what an extraordinary sound she was able to produce: "Listen to it. It's almost like harmonic things happening when she sings. It almost sounds like a conversation. It's amazing. Really."
you can definitely hear the new yorker in her voice and i love it
Hi Beth, great to hear your informative reactions, you hear so much more than most reactors. You should definitely check out a young Canadian singer called Jadyn Rylee, her covers are immense but she also has an album of original songs, Voice of Change.

Hey! What happened to your karate chop “slash” during your patreon plug? That’s your trademark Beth, one of the oh so many things we love about you ❤️❤️❤️
I would love to see you react to Mark Lanegan. Former singer of the Screaming Trees. Gorgeous baritone. His performance of One Way Street on the One Take Sessions is brilliant.
Cyndi the Best, your voice is pure feel! Please Beth react to Agnëtha Faltskog The winner takes it all !! Tks!
I remember hearing her in the 80s. I've always loved Cyndi.

Goonies 'R' Good Enough and Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Confirmed.
Different, non traditional, but brimming with talent, charisma, and creativity. Also a sick dulcimer player.
Dear Beth, I would absolutely love a reaction to Song of Durin A Cappella by Clamavi De Profundis, It is a poem based on Tolkien's books. I understand it is not everybody's cup of tea, but in my personal opinion has some of the most beautiful male vocals.
I would love to see your reaction to Mimi and Josefin singing Radiohead's Creep on The Voice Kids Germany! They are amazing and I think you would really love them!
Cyndi is an original love her stuff
I love her version of At Last! She is so powerful and at the same time cute.
My qife has a voice i never seen she is similar to cyndi i think she with ease could become famous fast i wish she would do it. She can sing anything. Its so so clear.
love to see reactions to Avery Wilson singing "Can We talk" , Marvin Gaye - heard it through the grapevine (acapella). Some great soul singers. Luther Vandross a house is not a home live, Whitney doing that medley of I loves you porgy, i'm not going nowhere, i have nothing at the American music awards. Rick James and Teena Marie - Fire and Desire live. Some Jill Scott - The Way
love cyndi! would you react to jessie mueller? shes a broadway actress and she can sing so many different styles!
Please check out "captain beefheart"aka Don Van Vliet vocals.
Beth, please, you have to react to the band cradle of filth to their vocalist danni and tell us his secret of singing with 5 or 6 voices thanks beth excellent work, I was thinking about a particular song but you choose the one you like, cradle of filth -her ghost in the fog (live bloodstock 2019)
Cyndi, so cute!!!
where is your accent from? I love it!
she did an acoustic or stripped down version of Change of Heart...somewhere around 2004... it's on KZread somewhere... OR something closer to now ... I think there are some live stuff from last year...but it might not be too clear since it would be via an iPhone to KZread upload....

She's really going to react to that after such a great description...
I just want someone who looks at me the way Beth looks at Cyndi when she's singing.
Thank you so much for doing this; really sweet. I would love to see your take on True Colours (live version is best) if you’re interested, If you don’t know the history, Cyndi wrote that song for her sister who is a lesbian and was struggling with that in the 80s. If you listen to the lyrics it’s actually one of the sweetest songs ever written. Thanks again!

"Cyndi wrote that song" She didn't write it. The rest of your story is also nonsense.
Yes !
I remember bopping around to her when I was 9. Girls just want to have fun. This song was more serious. Then there was the WWF stuff, and things got a bit weird. Then I saw her next, I think she was 10 months pregnant (looked like it, ready to burst)? Was that her? On a late night talk show. Then a "seer", "Fortune teller" or something on...was it Bones? Such a life. So nice seeing acts of my younger days coming back into the limelight. They've earned it.
By any way have you hear of Mo Ghille Mear (My Gallant Hero) ?? definitely check them out.
I know you did this awhile ago, but if you want to see how powerful her voice is listen to her song "I drove all night".
All through the night - live in paris! Please 😆
Teena Marie has this typical sobbing 80's way of singing I would like to see your review of her and the song Ooo La La La
Beth, would you do one for Anggun please.. thanks
I'm curious how you would react to the dissonant mid-nineties singing of bands like Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. - like Pavement - AT&T and Dinosaur Jr. - Feel The Pain.
Meet her back stage she shares all her foods d drink and now are friends
Cindy is a goddess of a singer would love to see her sing the dragonborn song but this is fantastic version
So when we going out Beth?
hi beth. i like your yt-channel very much. your reactions are always great. and i really love your voice and your accent. your natural red hair is so beautiful. it would be really great if you could react to turkish singers (sometimes). a reaction to şebnem ferah and her song "çakıl taşları" would be very nice. ❤️
Tengo esta canción como recuerdo de mi primer día de colegio Nose porque jajaja, te recomiendo Divididos "guanuqueando" saludos desde Argentina!
I think i remember an interview she gave, in which she talked about her displeasure with her voice, and actually took voice lessons. Do you know anything about that, Miss Beth?
Do you think you could try out I cross my heart by George Straight. Beautiful song by an great singer.
Hi Beth. Love your reaction vids and analysis. Could you please do Culling Voices by Tool? I think you'll like that one.
I wanna hear your review of “Girls just wanna have fun”
I know I'm a little late to the party but, to truly appreciate this lady's vocal ability, you have to hear her version of "At Last". Yes, she covers the incredible Etta James song and claims at least part ownership of it.
By supporting those who support humanitarian work you do too ❤️ Cyndi
What kind of instrument is Cyndi playing in this video?

You should check out Demolisher by Slaughter to Prevail. That guy does ridiculous things with his vocals
Cyndi Lauper the best 😍🤘🆑❤️
I would still like your take on the two voices of Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke). Perhaps "The Death and Resurrection Show.
I'd love to see you react to merethe solvtedt who sings a lot of songs for two steps from hell
Funny that you stated how " unusual " she is. Considering that her first album was " She's so unusual."🤘✌😊
Eva Cassidy version of Time after Time is the best out there. A voice taken from us way to soon.
Bark!
@bethroars would love for you to react to Cyndi's At Last.
Beth is the kind of girl that you want around when it's snowing outside.
Love your reaction with this song . React to TK - Unravel (First Take Version) please. Waiting for it.
I would love to see your reaction on bts house of cards or the truth untold (don't have any dancing haha)
yes....epic......damn.....
Does she react to Ney Matogrosso already?
The Graham Norton episode with her and Seth MacFarlane is pure gold. Her reactions to Seth singing Time after Time as Stewy Griffen and True Colours as Peter Griffen just makes me smile. kzread.info/dash/bejne/p4aA0aWLdb23g8Y.html
Hey can you do The beatles or the police or Rush
Hi Cyndi! Please react to "Cien años - Abel Pintos". He is amazing
Always liked the song, because it uses dynamics to great effect and she is one to pull it off. A few too many riffs for my liking. This is the only song that I know (or can remember) that teases the chorus, but goes into another verse, instead. Anyone know others?
Her vowels are strongly emphasized brooklyn/queens vowels. She speaks the same way. Source: me too. If you want to try an extreme version of this sort of thing, try anything by Melanie Safka, but specifically "close to it all" and "animal crackers". kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaVlw9SBebTIgJM.html
