What's interesting is, this is one of her least vocally demanding songs. If you listen to sing Money Changes Everything live on her official KZread channel you'll host her hit about 8 G5s on a row. It's incredible. This song doesn't show off her vocal ability

She’s an underrated singer. I personally didn’t know how incredible her vocals are, until I watched her sing in concert live, right here on KZread. And I’m from the 80’s, and was very aware of her, and seen her videos a lot.

Ah, songs of my youth ;) in this performance I felt like she started out a bit Stevie Nicks-esque and when she went for a bit of roughness, a bit of power she had a bit of Bonnie Tyler to her voice. Fantastic performance! Thanks for reacting to her! What a throwback that was

Thank you for posting and understanding the brilliance of my favorite Diva, Cyndi. She's been a part of my life since I was 10, so nearly 36 years. Witnessing people who don't understand her talent see her for the first time live is so much fun. I've seen her convince Meat Loaf, Cher, Tina Turner and Rod Stewart fans into giving her a standing ovations as the opening act.

What makes her so unique is her over-the-top take on the prototypical Queens, NYC accent, sort of like the Ramones. She and I happened to be born at the same hospital in Queens, for what it's worth, so I've always liked her :) As if she needed it, further validation came for her when Miles Davis started covering this song during the mid-80s.

Hello Beth Roars! As I am no longer young my knowledge of music extends back a few decades. When I was young I often heard older musicians rating songs and many considered "Hoagy Carmichael's" "Stardust" the finest song to be written at that time. I believe this song is so beautifully written, I mean "suite case full of memories", just simple lyrics like that and yet evoke everything you like from lyrics.I think Cindy Lauper's genius is her song writing abilities.

I wonder why nobody has done a review of her song which Celine Dion has revived. This song showcased Cyndi Lauper's lowest range. What amazed me most is how she was able to pull up to the highest note only to bring it down again. This is her sexiest song. Imagine her in a bedroom voice in some parts of the song and her high notes give you the same feeling of anticipation and excitement in seeing your lover. The Music and song is actually a sweet caterpillar ride. The song is I Drove All Night😘

Time after time is a timeless song, but I wish you had reacted to a song where Cyndi showed her true potential as a vocalist. Here are some examples: I'm gonna be strong, money changes everything (the 2003, At Last.... tour version is awesome and it is available on youtube), crossroads with Jonny Lang (the DVD version is also available on youtube) , etc. The video is awesome, though! Thanks.

Cyndi Lauper has a 4 octave range which she started using more later in her career. When she was very young she severely damaged her vocal cords recklessly singing rock and roll (she was told she would never sing again) but after years with a vocal coach she rebuilt her vocal cords and became the phenomenon she is today. When she decides to show her vocal range and power it is mind numbing how great a singer she really is. An example is her singing the old time torch song "At Last" in the marriage scene of Bones TV series.

funny story about cyndi... when she was attending the recording of "we are the world" in the 80ies (big charity single with loooads of celeb singers, all in one studio to get the feel of a choir i guess), the postproduction team had unwanted sounds on the song and didn't know what tot do with them. turns out, it was the chinking of cyndis earrings or something like that. they managed to filter it without all the celeb singers having to come back and redo :)

I remember seeing the VH1 documentary of that. The most interesting part was when Steve Perry (aka, The Voice), Journey's lead singer, was sitting near Cyndi as she recorded her part and marveling at what an extraordinary sound she was able to produce: "Listen to it. It's almost like harmonic things happening when she sings. It almost sounds like a conversation. It's amazing. Really."

Then I saw her next, I think she was 10 months pregnant (looked like it, ready to burst)? Was that her? On a late night talk show. Then a "seer", "Fortune teller" or something on...was it Bones? Such a life. So nice seeing acts of my younger days coming back into the limelight. They've earned it.

Always liked the song, because it uses dynamics to great effect and she is one to pull it off. A few too many riffs for my liking. This is the only song that I know (or can remember) that teases the chorus, but goes into another verse, instead. Anyone know others?

Her vowels are strongly emphasized brooklyn/queens vowels. She speaks the same way. Source: me too. If you want to try an extreme version of this sort of thing, try anything by Melanie Safka, but specifically "close to it all" and "animal crackers". kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaVlw9SBebTIgJM.html
