2:00 I dont care at all about IA in this because it has family aproval. The problem i see is choosing this music (against dictatorship) to favor Volkswagen, which supports dictatorship and never recognized the error. Dictator wasn't that happiness.

Elis mostrou ao Brasil quem era Belchior. O bigodudo escrevia a sua música com o coração, com a vivência. Por causa disso, é tão emocinante escutar. Não tinha uma voz brilhante, mas a melodia compensava tudo. Para uma pessoa que não é brasileira, pode até ser sem sentido, mas para uma brasileiro, Belchior é a essência da história dos anos 70, 80 e 90. "Jovem que desceu do norte, para a cidade grande, os pés cansados e feridos", " Tenho vinte e cinco anos de sonho e de sangue e de América do Sul. Por força deste destino um tango argentino me vai bem melhor que um blues", "E eu inda sou bem moço pra tanta tristeza. Elis and Maria Rita are fantastic singers and performers. The music is also fantastic! The clip was very emotional too. But... There were questions about this commercial, because the whole story that this song has in such a bad political period for Brazil, all the representativeness of artists, like Elis herself, who were arrested for trying to defend Art and freedom. This whole artistic movement seems to have been undermined by the new meaning they tried to give to music. It sounded like a romantic song from parents to children, but this song is a political act that lasts until today.

Undoubtedly the overall best advertising piece ever made here in Brazil. It brings me to tears every time I watch it. Volkswagen has been the most popular motor brand since ever. It’s almost impossible to find a family that has not had at least one of their cars. When I was born in 1974 my father had a Brasília, which was a compact station wagon exclusively made here. Later on he traded it for another one and when I was 9 yo he bought a Voyage. My first car was a 1995 Golf and now that I’m 48 I own a 1969 Karmann Ghia. This timeline is an example of how this ad is so emotional for us. Much more than their beautiful performances on their own. You’ve mentioned the late Belchior several times, but are you aware that it’s him represented in the guy’s T-shirt at 9:07?

The commercial was really beautiful. But it's interesting to point out the immense controversy that happened here in Brazil because of it. Volksvagen was one of the companies that supported the military government during the dictatorship in the country. This song is about the youth that rose up against the military government. Many students were persecuted, arrested and killed during this period. Elis Regina was one of the most persecuted and censored artists during the dictatorship. Many people found it hypocritical of Volksvagen to make this commercial using the image of Elis Regina and this song, without ever having made a single note of repudiation or regret for having supported the dictatorship in Brazil. I particularly think that if Elis' daughter, Maria Rita, didn't think this was an impediment to her accepting to do the commercial, who are we to say anything. Still, she was severely criticized by the public. These internet people think they are worthy of pointing the finger at everything... it's annoying. Anyway, Maria Rita's emotion and joy is clear. There are many controversies about AI, but this is an example of the beautiful moments it can provide.
