This makes me REALLY appreciate the original version of the song.

I've never listened to her music in particular, but I've repeatedly seen live KZread clips of her singing on different performances, and she has consistently killed it. And not in a good way.

I love how gary barlow is not pushing so hard knowing cheryl’s vocal abilities.

Gary really rescued this performance. Shows that he is just one of the best live singers.

Gary Barlow is such a brilliant artist all around, for him to have been paired with Cheryl "She's not hitting all the notes, bless her" and to sing a song that was not his nor hers( and I love the Lady Antebellum original) is my WTF. Great selection, Georgina!! Excellent!!

You can see the difference of a real singer just when gary starts singing. Sorry for my english 🤔 italy here. Georgina you're sooo a sweetheart! Love your reactions

My thoughts. You don't have to be a good vocalist to judge other's vocals. Just like how we could all judge her in KZread :). Simon and LA can't sing but they judge as well. Fact is they know how to make it big. And when you become a singer, you're not just singing for people who could sing, you know?

Because Cheryl was specifically requested by the Princes. I guess Gary didn't want to inflict her on anyone else, so he took the bullet himself, hoping he'd be able to save something of the performance.

I don't know the girl, but Gary Barlow is a great singer!

She could not hit the notes and this song is not that difficult for range.

The problem that I have with cheryl vocals she is a mezzo soprano and she tries to sing in a key that's too low for her just to make her sound unique be doesn't have the control to do that then she most of the time be missing notes

Do you mean their recording session studio band? It so, makes sense that Gary would have him be the drummer at a concert he was overseeing the organizing of

Can remember watching this live, cringing and wondering if something was wrong e.g. a technical issue making it difficult for her to hear correctly, causing her to sing off key, it was so bad I had butterflies in my stomach for her all through it on the day.

Gary Barlow was perfect! He could have sang it perfectly on his own, every time it went on to just him singing it sounded amazing. It was Cheryl who ruined it. Poor Gary.

Cheryl couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.

Take That's backing band. Kinda comes full circle, right... ?

@Max Houkes Yep the entire band tour with both TT & ELO. 🙂 I know him mainly from Take That where they gave him the nickname of ‘The Bear’ because apparently he gives good bear hugs! 😉😂 I have also seen them with ELO a few times as well. 😎

It's funny, when Cheryl plays to her strengths she is good! She is like Selena Gomez, but the difference is Selena sticks to her strengths and that makes her great at what she does, Cheryl needs to do the same... still I'd definitely see her in concert because she is an excellent performer

I am so pleased you have reviewed this performance as I value your professional opinion. I always felt that it was a weak and embarrassingly poor attempt by Cheryl and I am surprised that Gary Barlow seemed happy to let her do it. I would have more sympathy for Cheryl if she came across as being more pleasant and a kinder person. How long will it be until her looks completely fade and she is forgotten ?

I remember watching this aghast at the time. Cheryls voice sounds so weak and out of tune and Gary sounded like a singer at a holiday camp to me.

Curious question, as a vocal coach with your experience, do you think cheryl can actually hear herself how bad that is?? I can hold a tune at the best of times but I can also hear myself singing badly if for instance a song didn't suit my voice??

This is disappointing cause they're both good artists. I guess we all have bad days. I think Gary sounds good though but their voices dont match that much
