I wonder why his vocal is auto-tuned/melodyned from 4min10sec onwards 🤔? I guess they do that to everyone on this show… contestants or performers.

This performance was INCREDIBLE!!! I got chills from star to finish!

5:04 - The way Ben builds up and up and up is insane! So freakin' talented.

No one can deny how talented Ben is. I don’t care for his hyper fast vibrato, but what a performance!

So happy to watch this again. Might be the best TV performance I’ve ever seen. Blown away and so many goosebumps 🥰

This is literally me watching it for the first time. I started crying after two seconds, when I heard he was singing with his pop voice and not acting. What a rollercoaster of emotions.

I don’t think he’s actually gonna take Alana’s singing part in the movie. I hope not. I think they just did this arrangement for this particular performance on AGT stage. Also, this performance might be one of my favorite versions.

It was beautiful.

Along with everything else we can say, Platt always puts in the time to get it right. He does the work behind the performance, to make sure its polished, it's professional, and its as close to perfect as he can make it. When he performs, its never sloppy, never 'phoned in'.

You should find some of Ben Platt’s solo work, especially from his first album. His runs are INCREDIBLE-and he sounds exactly the same live, it’s nuts!!!!!!!

Cried when I was watching it live. I happened to be with my parents and they were like “it’s good” and started talking… my response “you’re ruining this for me!!” Lol But seriously felt so much emotion and loved that you could feel it through this more “pop-ish” version. So many things to love about this performance. And this is most likely a very unpopular opinion but I think Simon could have been feeling emotional from the performance and that’s why he wasn’t originally clapping

I know we’re talking about Ben platt’s song, but I swear the dog in the back in adorable rapped up in it’s little blanket

I don't know how to tell you this but around me, I could not have talks like that, "hmmm that breathy voice there, that broken subtle voice on that note hmmm and god did you hear that he just went from full on open voice to a super calm one just like that ohh..." anyway I hope you understand what I mean. i loveeeeeeee ben platt don’t get me wrong but sometimes his super super spiny vibratro can kinda sound like auto tone…. it’s just very metallic

I loved the modern twist of the song. Still the same classic. But just with a bit more pop. Fitting for a film

Not gonna lie this song, the entire story behind the musical hits a bit personal for me. I've struggled with thoughts of..ya know, a lot in the past. @@KingoftheJuice18 i know he owns the franchise, im from the uk and he created Britain’s Got Talent first. He must have put a lot of money into it at least at the beginning to get it going, yh he does make more money back from it but i think he also funds it

It's hard for me to not be upset at the audience. Just. Shhh.

As amazing as Ben Platt is (and he REALLY is), I still can't help but be a little disappointed that he fought so hard to retain that star role for the movie. Even disregarding the weird age thing, knowing when to step back and let other's get their moment in the sun is such an important part of the social aspect of musical theater.

@@ichigokurosaki7241 That's already incredibly disrespectful to the other Evan's who took the stage, some of whom you could argue did just as well (or better) than Platt. And that's because the part was allowed to grow. Change isn't a bad thing, there is always room for improvement, and nothing, not even an originating role, is better off staying stagnant. Again, Ben Platt is incredible, and no one is saying "he can't do the role anymore", just that moving on is alright too.

@@christianseibold3369 You can’t accuse someone else of being judgmental and not appreciating others’ opinions when you’re doing the same thing in your comment. I happen to agree with the OP. They should have gone with a younger actor. I find the de-aging technology extremely distracting and it was all I noticed when looking at him in the trailer. Every play and musical, including this one, has been and will continue to be updated and re-cast. I would have done the same here, but I’m sure his performance will be great and he’ll get tons of awards and nominations.
