It always something when an actor who has never sung in a movie, does one where he/she has to sing. For instance when Tom Cruise did Rock of Ages, he did all of his own vocals and he turned out to have better than good voice and a four octave range. Cruise, himself, had no idea that his voice was that good. When an actor takes the leap into that unknown musical territory and meets the challenge with flying colors, it always something to behold.

Andrew Garfield’s best performance in Tick Tick Boom is “Why” I think it’s what really showcased his acting and singing ability because they shoot that scene for only 2 takes and he sang that live while crying and playing piano

I know that he’s a great actor, and has been in an Oscar nominated film in the past, but I really feel like this movie showcased his talent in a way no other movie has. Maybe it’s just because his previous movies weren’t up my alley, but his micro expressions were amazing, and the fact that he never really sang before this film is incredible!

Andrew repeatedly said in his interviews that he’s never sang before, or do musicals and never considered himself a singer. He spent a year I think, to prepare for this role, voice lessons, singing lessons, piano lessons, etc. He shared recently on the Variety Round Table interview how he would shock himself ones he would reach an octave and would end up sobbing because he can’t believe it. I love his performance in Tick Tick Boom and I hope he bags an award for this.

Andrew Garfield has such a great voice! And Jonathan Larson sure knew how to write a song. Out of all his creations, I personally love "Why". I would love to see you reacting to Larson himself singing. Although not very polished on a technical level, all of his recordings have such power to them, it's touching.

Andrew is a star! He deserves all the possible prizes (SAG, Oscars, whatever!). He delivered a terrific performance at this movie. Who ever knew the story of Jonathan Larsson and saw the movie, they totally saw in Andrew a perfect characterization of Jonathan.

I'm obsessed with tick tick boom and spiderman right now. Andrew Garfield is so talented! He deserved an Oscar or this film. The effort he exerted for this is amazing 😭

YES. I love Andrew's acting, he does little things that make the character be so real

She’s really going to enjoy “Louder then words”

Vanessa hudgens is incredible

You should really listen to the studio version of this number, vanessa hits two high notes (that don't appear in the movie version) really well

Vanessa is so underrated

Do "Come To Your Senses" for your next video. It is a great song wonderfully performed by Alexandra Shipp and Vanessa Hudgens. You will love it. Also, in Jonathan Larson's early work which the movie covers , you hear the early seeds of what would become Rent.

Andrews done the West End & Broadway(he's won a Tony award) but he's done plays this is his first time singing bc he didn't think/know he could sing. I hope he does a live musical one day.

I hope that after this movie, he tries Broadway. With how he is mainly an actor but can also sing beautifully, I feel like he would do REALLY well on Broadway

he’s actually been on broadway! just not in musicals - but I get what you mean! he won a tony in 2018 for angels in america, and was nominated for a tony a few years before that.

I remember seeing this number on stage during the original broadway run. Raul and Amy had the place in stitches by the end of the song. If can follow the lyrics it just show how much of a genius and how playful Jonathan Larson was.

You really need to react to "green green dress" if you haven't yet. It's a bonus track and he sounds so good in it.

It's not a musical, and a much heavier show, but if you can find a way to watch a recording of him in the play "Angels in America", hes absolutely phenominal, it is a pretty long watch, and its posted in two parts. It's really worth it in my opinion. It's from 2017 or 2018 I believe? You can find places to stream it though. This man really throws himself into his work and it always shows. and he learned singing and piano in a year. The song that he sings towards the end of this film in central park was also recorded live. It's absolute insanity.

You should try the version of this song with Lin Manuel Miranda and Karen Olivo. It´s great too...

Love that he spent an entire year taking vocal lessons and learning how to sing and it absolutely paid off!

So someone in my Hamilton Facebook group shared a couples therapy with Lin and Karen Olivio. And watching it I see how he came up with this choreography.. and of course genius move.. Karen does a great Susan .. and this was his first signing job .. he took signing and piano lessons for over a year before they started filming

Actually, for what I understood, Andrew Garlfield learn to sing for this movie especifically, he took a year of lessons, that's why there isn't a lot of content of him singing, but I think his teachers were absolutely amazing

You should hear the full lyric version! The movie version cuts about 1 minute off the full song

Louder than Words is also a good one from the movie! Such a good message

This song reminds me of the style of "We Both Reached For the Gun" from Chicago. It's got that over the top, clipped, almost hyper wide-eyed, mannequin-esque feel to it, which really makes the song funny (even though they're fighting with one another). I love all the head tilts and expressiveness that Andrew puts into it. Such a great performance! I hope we see you react to more songs from this film. It's SO good!!
