Fun facts about Tick, Tick... Boom! 1. This originally a one-man rock monologue by Jonathan Larson to process his failure with Superbia. When it was revived years after his death, it was turned into a three-person show, which is the framing device of the movie 2. Lin also played Jonathan in a production in 2014. 3. He is Lin's inspiration. He used to emulate Jonathan Larson in his writings, particularly in In The Heights. 4. Jonathan Larson wrote this alongside Rent. 5. There are various Broadway cameos in the film. Even Stephen Sondheim has a voice cameo in this.

Joshua Henry, the second male singer, has quite a few theatre credits, and yes, that is Vanessa Hudgens' voice! Andrew Garfield trained intensely for a year in singing and piano as prep for this role, and he is playing Jonathan Larson. Tick... Tick... Boom is a semi-autobiographical musical that Jonathan Larson wrote about becoming 30 and being a creative in the early 90s in New York. Songs were added from Larson's unpublished & unfinished work Superbia, and from off-Broadway and workshop and rock monologue versions of this musical that Jonathan Larson performed at various places.

I've seen this movie, it made me cry then and it's making me want to cry listening to it here now! Garfield knocked it out of the frikkin' park. I'm not even a real fan of musicals, but THIS got to me...I felt it...I feel it more than when I watched Hamilton, and that's saying a lot.

I'm a music director in Colorado and i have to coach so many songs for rehearsals etc. This movie blew me away, and Andrew is fantastic. I knew he had a Tony, but he impressed me with this role so much. I can't wait to see what else he does in the future.

Joshua Henry is the other guy in the song and he is a phenomenal Broadway performer. I saw him in Carousel on Broadway and I have never been so blown away by a performer. I beg anyone reading to check out his Soliloquy. His Billy Bigelow is the best I have ever seen and that show is produced so often.

If you haven’t seen this yet I recommend it, I find it very heart warming that you say it sounds very much like “Rent” because that’s exactly what this movie is about, Andrew Garfield is playing the early Broadway genius Johnathan Larson who created RENT, and he created Tik, Tik…BOOM! (But it never haired on broadway) and the musical is about his failed rock opera that he could never get published and has rewrote and remade for I believe it was 5-8 years of his life

He was Aaron Burr in the touring company of Hamilton the first time I saw him, but recently he did Dr. Pomatter in Waitress on Broadway before it got closed due to Covid. He's amazing too! :)

This movie is chalk full of musical theatre broadway performers and was incredible. Andrew Garfield apparently did not sing before this role, but I think with the team around him, in addition to having a director like Lin Manuel Miranda, it was setup for success. Don’t think this will be the last time we see him singing.

Andrew is the complete entertainer, acting, singing dancing. Hope to see him in many more films in the future, another musical would be great. I’m a huge fan of Andrew after seeing him in this movie. An Oscar for his performance would be appropriate in my opinion. ❤️
