8:13 - I've def picked up more tension since my opera days but that is due to all this aca/pop singing... Also you got to keep in mind that these music videos are usually just visual representations of the audio playback and most of the time we are just conveying emotion and messing around... I couldn't tell you how many times I will be purposely singing back a half step under/over to make my team laugh while shooting.

You look engaged and present, it’s a great video. Thanks for clarifying that shooting these videos is done to play back and perfect vocal technique is not the focus but rather, emotion, engagement and entertainment is. It is much much harder than it looks - my respect to you and your team for the time and effort you put in to giving us all something to react to and enjoy!

Well put. Links back to the original should always be first up in the description as well as an encouragement to go listen to it (as well as their other work). I very much appreciate videos that don't have to use weird cut-outs, audio shifts, etc. to get around the copyright bot. In general it's the fans of a given channel recommending music so the chances are the reactor is going to enjoy it.

I read somewhere Tim trained as tenor/baritone when younger then located his bass-ness. Five octave range is the online KZread story for what that’s worth. He’s evidently been stretching his range up occasionally since Home Free had a personnel shift allowing more options. Snowglobe is a new-ish original I believe where he’s the lead and co-writer I think [it’s always Christmastime]. There’s also some interesting Bass Contest YT videos between Tim, Avi and the bass from Voice Play...that could be a lead for the spectrograph analyzing app with the tech they display.

He is definitely "only bass" in the sense his range being huge doesn't really mean otherwise (or make it any less impressive), but that's just not how voice classifications like that work. They're really only relevant in the operatic sense, meaning basically "what is the range in which your voice is most resonant, such that it can be broadcast without microphone over top of an orchestra and an auditorium full of people while being clear and comfortable" lol. In fact, Tim is as low as it goes at Basso Profundo. It's an exceptionally rare voice type and he makes full use of it lol. Just to give an example, I can hit some fairly low notes (the lowest chest voice note I've hit is A1, which if you didn't know, is quite a bit lower than what you'd typically expect of a bass) but I am most assuredly not a bass and a true bass would sound better singing a C1, even if he couldn't sing as low as me. I have some degree of resonance to these notes, but below a D2 they're basically mic only since I'm basically just letting my vocal cords flap limply on flowing air haha. Tim on the other hand could probably belt these notes out so loud and strong that it'd sound like a giant angry frog! I feel like it's important to point out this kind of stuff, because in my eyes it makes his voice all the more impressive (this goes for other fellows like Avi Kaplan and Geoff Castellucci as well). It's also important to know that, while Tim has an absurdly low chest voice, he does use some techniques beyond simply singing. Like the last note here, I haven't checked what note it is but I'm pretty sure what he's doing is called a "growl". I know he uses it in Home Free's Ring of Fire. A lot of bass singers use techniques like that and subharmonic singing to hit even lower notes (for reference, I can actually belt out an A1 very loud with resonance using subharmonic singing, so sometimes the lines get blurred haha) Most people you hear singing bass are, technically speaking, baritones.

One of my favorite songs by Peter Hollens is his duet with Malukah, covering Lullaby of Woe from The Witcher 3. I also echo the others in the comments telling you to listen to Mayday by Home Free. It's amazing.

Wonderful reaction Ken! Thank you so much. The first time I heard this song. I thought I was listening to an old Latin Mass. So resonate and full. I was a history teacher back before I retired. I used to teach my students that music has been important to people for a very long time. Gregorian Chants always made me feel closer to God. They still do.

Im a huge L.O.T.R. fan and the Hobbit also. Peter an Tim did an amazing job on this song and when I first heard it, I was total blown away. It still hits me from time to time watching different reactions, just how damn good, it really is. Ken great reaction also, I joined and look forward to seeing more reactions.

Thoroughly enjoyed your take and input on this one. Peter has an awesome voice, along with a heck of a range. What he's able to do (produce) is simply amazing! --- His ability to really bring out the dramatic effect, in depth ... just, just - well, lol --- does just that!!! Tim -- No mistaken, he's bass/baritone ... pulls it off very well. As you journey on ... it'll be quite interesting to observe. Thanks

I'm hooked! Your reaction videos are a joy to watch! Might I suggest you do a reaction video of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by Peter Hollens featuring Home Free... I find myself watching/listening to it over and over again. It's utterly fantastic. Just make sure you listen to Peter at the end of the video as he does a bit of explaining about what you would have just witnessed. :)

Another cool video from Peter Hollens, among his many, that I really enjoyed was his cover of The Dawn Will Come from the game Dragonage Inquisition. It is done with a virtual choir and think it is an excellent song.

When you talk about sibling's voices... It reminds me of a conversation I had back when we still had our landline. If we didn't name ourselves when we picked up the phone or called, people were challenged when it came to figuring out who of us they were speaking to. 🤣 My brother is 5 years younger than me, this was before his voice got deeper and he hit puberty.
