He is not the only reactor who says the voice cracks (breaks) were intentional. I've watched a lot of reactions to her performances. There are "Reactors" and then there are those who are VOCAL COACHES and/or SINGERS (Yazik Reacts, Lucia Sinatra, Rebecca Vocal Athlete (RVA), Beth Roars, Tara Simon Studios, Vocal Lexicon, riVerseLive, Tania Levy- Vocal Studio, etc). Sorry if I missed anybody though I'm pretty sure I watched all reactions combined (more than the original Mori video). Tristan Paredes said things similar to the aforementioned vocal coaches and/or singers. This includes the statement that she's at the level of Whitney Houston which other coaches also said. Most of them may have likened her vocal ability to 90's Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and other legendary female vocalists.

I reacted to this the other day and was blown away. I picked up on the operatic sound. It shows the huge benefit of vocal lessons and how they teach you to get the space to open the resonance up to such a wonderful tone. Her high notes almost carried overtones with them. It was incredible.

Chloé Ichinose what doesn't make sense? Overtones may be present but they are only detectable in certain frequencies. Her tone was making the overtones almost audible in a frequency range that doesn't typically highlight them.

Jerod M Well first of all, whether or not one can hear overtones on their own is completely subjective. Some people can't hear them even in overtone singing, where a certain partial is purposely isolated. Some people, I've been training to do that as well, can hear overtones even in the most mundane sounds. Then, I agree that you can hear them pretty distinctly but this recording is probably edited, EQed. The whistling I'm hearing is around the 1.4-1.6 kHz mark, which also turns out to be in the common area for presence enhancement. (singer's formant, distinct twang, ear canal resonance, lots of cool names...) Could be from her actual voice, or could just be a coincidence. But even then, that kinda makes no sense as a compliment, which I assume that's what you meant to do. I can sing an F5 to ring like that yet the note still sounds like crap compared to how she belts out those highs.

lol. My first reaction to Morissette was exactly the same as yours! I'm from the US! I found her a little over a year ago and I've been a massive fan since! Every time I think I've seen all her performances (there's hundreds on here) I see something I've never seen before. Her versatility is astounding. The best is that besides recordings from an album and a few singles, it's all 100% live! At 21 I see the best still ahead!

@@sentfromupabove maybe its just the singing style or something, but those don't connect with me the same way. Could just be preference though. I can't listen to morissette or dimash without crying. That is basically unheard of for me. They just seem... perfect vocally.
