The greatest morisette

Wonderful analysis Dr. D. Morissette has stated recently that she is changing her singing style due to vocal fatigue. Morissette released 4 live songs recently and there were NO whistle tones. She said she would continue to 'belt' but that she hoped her fans would not be disappointed in the changes. Morissette is well aware that what she was doing (vocally) was not sustainable. In the future some of the vocal effects she is capable of doing will be saved for the studio versions and used as an accent rather than a featured part of the song.

I just love love love Morissette!

Morrisette, in an interview several years ago, said she did not want to be known for her whistle as she matures. She can still do it, but she does not want it to be seen as a gimmick. In recent recordings she used it as background only. Also, she wants to be able to sing her originals 30 years from now.

I’ve seen this performance on many reactors and vocals coach 🇨🇦mostly they don’t know what’s to spect, when the long whistle comes shockingly their jaws dropped. I always love this performance by MORISSETTE 🤩

I'm here for my Mori🫰🏽the camera stare by her is piercing. I call it the mori squeak too! Btw, that elongated whistle note with runs is 14 seconds long. It's longer than my morning commute to work. 😂 another great analysis thank you sir🤙🏼

Classic Morisette. ❤❤❤But that note the piano player and the background harmonies...ooof, that as rough. But that didn't throw Morisette off. Thank goodness. 😅 Man, there's just no music like the 80s and 90s and even early 2000s. And yes, as you say, think of a song/performance of where it will end and work backwards to make a very dynamic performance. I think it was roughly 17 seconds long? Anyhow, take care as always.

Thank you for this analysis of Morissette's performance. She is impressive because of technical ability and the choices she makes to convey the emotions felt in the song. There is also her something about her voice that I prefer over any other voice. So after listening to her singing recordings for about seven years I no longer hesitate to say she is my favorite singer. Of course I appreciate other singers and their performances especially of songs I prefer such as Gigi de Lana's more jazz influenced songs. But the difference is entertained vs entertained and emotionally moved. It's like my subjective way of evaluating orchestral or jazz ensemble performance, do I feel the performance?

Yep, #morissette is pretty good :) I only wish that people stop "it reminds me of...". Mori is Mori and her PERFOMANCES have been fantastic and they sound nothing like anyone else.

She's alright, lol. Simply life-changing. I only spend about an hour before bed every night listening to Mori, Gigi, and Kat. Finding these women approx. 4 years ago altered the way I listen to music. No biggie though.

Your right with the vocal cracks and growls, Mori has had problems with her vocal cords before, on a Vlog from December Mori and Dave talked about this, and her Doctor told her if she wants a long career, then she will have to change her style of singing, and instead of giving 120% bring it down to 100%, that didn't stop Mori in November, so go Morissette live Band session singing IMAGINE MORE, COLOUR EVERYWHERE, WATERWALK a modern Gospel song from Mori and Co writers at Sony Christian music Philippinens, absolutely gorgeous, then a Tagalog song called PAGBIGYANG MULI about asking for forgiveness for doing wrong, and last but not least POWER, I have seen the Mariah Version, her Whistle is not as good as Mori's, and there is a better Whistle than Mori, not by much but thats Elaine, but thats the only thing she is better, Mori's super smooth way of singing, her transitions through her vocal range are the best I've heard in years, Gigi is close, the great Barbara Streisand and Julie Andrews in there day were the best, clean and every word sung so clear, I just love great voices.
