Im an older woman, 43 and have embarked on this journey of becoming a CA. Im currently completing my second level of my degree. Is there any advice you can give me? Im basically anxious of reaching the time when I'll have to do my articles. This is because im currently working as an educator and my age worries me.

The only thing I can say is it’s never too late to make a difference. Even if you are older, you should keep being curious to learn as much as you can from the people you meet on your path, young and old 😊

My advice would be to do articles at a smaller firm. It's a lot more personal, and the smaller firms would focus on your stronger areas as opposed to pushing you through the sausage machine with hundreds of other clerks.

Hello sisi, I am currently doing a diploma in financial accounting, do I need a advanced diploma/BCom to qualify for ITC/CTA in this field?

Hello, yes you need to do an advanced diploma/ bridging programme to be able to do a CTA that can get you into ITC
Hi. Im not too good at math and failed it but unisa lets you do the higher certificate in accounting to apply for the degree. Q. Will me not being great with maths affect my accounting studies and employment as a CA? Im an introvert. Do you think being a CA is a good career for an introvert? Does it ever get depressing?
@Zintle
8 ай бұрын
Hi Candice, one of the subjects in the undergraduate accounting degree is mathematics as well as financial maths. There is also statistics which is fundamentally based on maths. Alot of concepts in Man.Acc and Finance are built on a maths foundation so you do need that maths foundation, but don’t rule yourself out, you can do anything you put your mind to. CA is a professional designation, there’s so many jobs that can be done. You can literally choose, so yes it’s a good option for an introvert. When you haven’t figured out what your “thing” is in the industry and you’re going through a tough time where you currently are, yes it does get depressing
hey Zee, im currently enrolled for PGDA with Milpark , i did BCTA 2023 after 10 years graduated with BCom. so my fear of salary cut especially lifestyle and responsibilities as next year im planning to start articles. whats your advise and by the way, Jan ill write ITC.

Hello Sis, so I have been accepted to study Accounting Science at UNISA for 2024, but the challenge I have is that I don't have a background in accounting as I did science in high school, so I wanted to ask how I should tackle the course. I really want to study this course as I want to become a CA.
@Zintle
6 ай бұрын
Hey Scelo, don’t worry at all. You don’t need high school accounting. Between you and me, high school accounting is not real accounting, everyone basically starts from scratch. You might actually be at an advantage because science teaches you how to find a solution/answer to a hypothesis logically and that is the skill you need to be successful in this profession 😊

Guys anyone who has a idea of what I should do coz am in my second year in Bachelor of Accounting science and I have a bursary from a big mining company but my problem is that my mining company is no SAICA accredited for being a training office and I have to work for the mining company after completion of the 4years do I need to ask the HR lady to register the mining company as a training office or what
@Zintle
Жыл бұрын
Hi Mfundo, thank you for your question. It’s not as easy as registering, there’s a whole process involved in making a training office. Also the training officer there must be a CA. It’s up to you if you are able to get another bursary that has a CA training programme or continue with this one, serve your time and then do articles after. But be careful around the rules of writing ITC- your CTA can’t be older than 3 years

Hi Taps, You can definitely be considered however it will probably be with the firms that accept trainees with no CTA. You will also probably need to, either repeat CTA at a SAICA Accredited institution or do a bridging course. That is if you want to pursue CA(SA).
@tapuwanashemakumbe5555

@@Zintle so I. Short CTA Zim is as good as no CTA there coz all processes requiress one to repeat CTA from scratch, by bridging course you mean
@Zintle
Жыл бұрын
@@tapuwanashemakumbe5555 no not at all, it’s not like that. It’s just that SAICA oversees the process of the CA(SA) designation. So there are certain institutions and qualifications that it has accredited for that specific purpose. Look at it this way, even if you came from Harvard or Oxford, the same rules would apply. Those institutions are not specifically accredited by SAICA for CA(SA). You can, alternatively look into ACCA.

Have a look at the board exam stats yearly for an indication, UCT, Wits and UJ I would say have the best. But to be honest, all universities have pretty great CA(SA) programmes because SAICA is super involved in making sure a quality standard is maintained.
