VLOGGING IN HOSPITAL: WEEK IN THE LIFE OF A DOCTOR
Join me for a week in the hospital, and find out what a week in the life of a doctor is like! This week, I start with a 24-hour call shift in the Intensive Care Unit, then I transition to a new rotation in hematology (blood disorders), attend lectures and then finish the week with an overnight call shift.
I’m Siobhan, a first year internal medicine resident, and this channel documents my journey as a junior doctor.

Thanks Cee Q - yeah that's definitely the trade off when you try to cram a week into one video!

Yes I agree! Is better "a day in the life" because I can get to know you better and know more about your work! :D
My heart goes out to you. When I see how hard you are working and trying to keep up with the crazy schedule. As a patient, I can share with you, that it makes the patient more comfortable knowing their Doctor is getting enough rest. I have been with Doctors who had not slept for days, and that is when things happen.........So my humble opinion in when to video, I would say.......when its possible and not so much worry or concern that it HAS to be done on a particular day. You're amazing and I know you're also a precious soul who truly is concerned for her patients. Much love to you, and keep up the Amazing Work. P/S Do you know the meaning of the term, "Bucket List?"

Thanks Lisa, i appreciate the kind words! Yes I definitely know the term Bucket List... I have one myself :)
Since it doesn't seem like you get a day off ever, you should make a video about what all you do when you do get a day off 😄
I absolutely adore you and these videos. You are so passionate about your career and it inspires me to be a better Nurse!

Violin MD I am pursuing medicine and your videos help me when I get overwhelmed!
How you find time to vlog, be a doctor and also just function as a human is beyond me! I prefer day in the life vlogs just so we see your day more in depth, but honestly just do whichever is easier for you and which takes the least amount of your time up :) x
Thank you for sharing your week with us Siobhan! You've got such a hectic schedule but you still manage to vlog and edit and upload...and cook! You're Wonderwoman!💃

Oooo i actually have seen that and really enjoyed it - so funny!!
I LOVE your videos!!! You are such are inspiration. I love to watch you get more comfortable in yourself through learning and experiencing new things. I know at the beginning of ICU you were nervous about the pressure of really sick patients. Now, after you’ve experienced the ICU, you are sooo much more confident in your abilities to take care of other patients. I’m only in high school now, but I’ve spent some time shadowing in the hospital and trying to experience as much of the reality of medicine as I can. So far everything is as amazing and brilliant as I thought it would be. My sights are set on Surgery and I can’t wait for the future.
Thank you for being so dedicated to us/KZread despite your busy and hectic schedule. I can’t imagine working overnight, having a research meeting right after, and then going home and working on a video. You’re amazing! 💛
Recently discovered your video and find them very educational. If I ever find myself in the hospital, now I understand so much better how things work and what different people may be doing. I second all the other positive comments posted by your viewers. And may I add, kudos to your viewers for their great comments. It's such a refreshing change from the snarkiness and negativity found in comments in so much of social media.
Whatever works for you Doctor Siobhan!❤️❤️ we’re always here watching and get inspired by you!!❤️❤️
it is very motivating to see how you experience the hospital now in resisdency. I still have one year to study and exams before I can start rotations and sometimes it is just too much studying, hanging above the books and memorizing as much as possible each day. So it is a great motivator on Saturday to see you in one of your videos. I like both, a day and a week in the life of a doctor! Thanks for sharing!
I accidentally found your channel while I was looking at the difference between Guillian Barre Syndrome and CIPD since my nuero changed my diagnosis to that. I don't know how it showed your channel. But, while watching your videos, it shows the heart that you and most of my Dr's have. Thanks for sharing and I love it when you build up those you work with.
Week in the life videos are fantastic! Thanks so much! Always a pleasure to watch :)
The Night Manager it's a short series but it's awesome. You are seriously wonder woman I barely have enough energy just to go to work, you work very hard in a high intensity job, study (a lot), make good eating choices and all with a smile on your face. I know we only see a few minutes of your day or week but you seem to just radiate positive energy and for someone like myself with a few undiagnosed medical issues watching you is a great pick me up. I find your daily/call shift vlogs more detailed and informative but I did like knowing how your week worked both are great I think ultimately it'sgoing to be a what works for you decision :)
Okay. I’ve watched a ton of your vids and i have to say that i love your happy attitude! It’s inspiring!
amazing how far you‘ve come! not just your work at the hospital but also your youtube channel! and i can see how you are getting more comfortable with vlogging in public and speaking to a camera! i prefer weekly vlogs over daily ones! and i am always so excited to see your videos because you give such a great insight in how working at the hospital looks like! lots of love from Austria xx
I love your day in the life videos. But it's great to see what a week looks like as well!
The Resident is good! Love your videos!!! You are so awesome!! Appreciate all your all you do for people!!! You are such a sweetheart!
I love a day in the life because it’s a lot more detailed but the week in the life show us more variation, so both are amazing 😍
love watching this side of medicine, I'm currently studying to become a Paramedic in NZ and seeing the hospital side helps me explain to my pts what happens after they leave my care! I feel like n the week in the life is overviewed a lot and its not as in-depth. I love your day in the life because it means we get to follow you throughout and you can talk about the shift as you go through it. Thanks for you awesome videos

Always waiting for ur new videos... love the youtube doctors community... its so great seeing that people get to see the real side of things.. love it that doctors all of us young doctors from around the world can communicate so easily... by the way i am sooo into interior design and architecture and stuff that escape to the country and grand designs are my latest obsessions on netflix..
I'm a first year medical student and I love your videos! I was thinking about specializing after an internal medicine residency so it's great getting to see your journey, thank you!
So inspirational to see how you handle your crazy schedule and still make time to cook and spend quality time with family. Do you do anything in particular as self care? Love a combination of day in the life and week! Maybe alternating? Love your videos!
I prefer a week in the life. And I appreciate you take the time to do this, even though you're so busy. You are a bright light in my day with your smile and enthusiasm :).
I love izombie! Im rewatching it now :) i love the resident, leverage, the night shift, amercian housewife, call the midwife n hart of dixie are all great!!!

Hi! I don't usually ever comment on videos but I couldn't resist. If you read this, I just want to let you know that I listen to your videos all the time while I study and it motivates me to keep going. I'm currently taking pre-requisites for med school and hope to apply within the next year or two. I really enjoy your channel and love your energy. I hope you never stop making videos so I always have something to watch and be inspired by. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this week in the life seeing how you fit in time to study and have time with friends and family

Yay!!! I always look forward to watch your videos!
Love watching these videos!! Learning so much
Your videos are so fun to watch! Keep up the good work!
I love how humble you are, I work in a teaching hospital and theres a lot of residents, one thing i noticed with 1st year residents they tend to be humble but as they gain more years, then attitudes change, I get it, more years more knowledge more confidence, but hey, it won't hurt if they would listen to nurses with 30-40+ years of experience, coz at the end of the day it'll all be for patients. Anyway just a thought, God bless you more Siobhan!😊
I'm amazed that you're putting central lines in as a first year!! I work in an ICU in Northern Ireland and only anaesthetists/trainee anaesthetists (at least 5 years qualified!) put them in! Well done you :)
You look so well rested. :-) Thank you for sharing your life with us, I look forward to your video every weekend!! Shows on Netflix I've absolutely loved: Parks and Recreation (the best!) , Broadchurch (drama) , Crazy Ex Girlfriend (hilarious), Mad Men (so good) and Nurse Jackie.
You are such a hard worker! Good luck on everything! I really love your videos and the effort that you put while filming it 😊❤️
I love this video! You're so sweet! I love your week long vlogs. 😁😁😁
i like a day in a life, because you talk about the detalies about that day, unlike in a week in a life because you tell like the main things tgat happened love you tho 💗
I LOVE week in the life videos!!! This is so cool, I LOVED when you said "I ask my patients if they get short of breath walking.. I'd have to say yes" :P Haha!! Hematology, interesting! We take CBGs on our nicu babies and I really struggle with the gas results and what they mean. So i've been trying to study that!
I just like all of your videos. Whether it's a day or a week its super interesting!
I love your videos, and it's so inspiring seeing how hard you work!!
Love your videos so much! having my medical school entrance exam soon and I am so excited 😄

Just found your blog, I find it so interesting. My son was born with Hemophilia, bicuspid aortic valve, multicyctic kidney..so had many hospital stays. Interesting to see what a doctor goes through in a day

Maybe you could try "Bondi Rescue"? I don't think that the new season is available in Canada yet but there are lots of full episodes from previous seasons on KZread! It's about Bondi Beach's lifeguards in Australia and their work - from saving people in danger in the water, to basic first aid, to more complex medical cases! I think you might like it :) Thanks for being an awesome person, for making me happy, and for being so dedicated to the work that you do. You inspire me so much!!!

Awesome video. Love your work ethic! I wish I had as much energy as you do. ❤
I’m glad you enjoyed your ICU rotation! Maybe I’ll see you during one of your next rotations!
Loove these vlogs!! You're so inspiring for aspiring med students!! 😝
both types of videos are great! since I'm still a medical student, I love comedy tv shows because they're short and somehow brings joy to me! I usually re-watch friends I'd recommend brooklyn nine nine
Thank you for making time to keep up with these videos! I'd totally recommend This Is Us. It's a beautiful, and funny show❤️
I have been home for 5 days with kidney stones binge watching your channel. I am hooked. Plz keep making more My life is so empty with out House
I enjoy both styles of video! The variation is nice. Also, coincidentally my grandma was diagnosed with lymphoma last week. I like that I can learn a bit about it through your videos!
As much as I love watching these videos and I appreciate the quality, I think we can all agree that it's important for you to rest, even if it means that we wait a little longer. But you know, I'm no doctor. ; )
Your videos are great and your are so inspiring keep up the great work

I really enjoyed your Week in the Life videos but I’m sure it’s more taxing on you to film and edit everyday. I just enjoy that you’re letting us have a glimpse at something everyday people don’t usually get to see. As for a new show, have you watched Dexter? I was obsessed. So good!
Busy week, great vlog as always x
Love your videos! You're a hard worker and an inspiration. An uplifting and fun show I like to watch is Fuller House on Netflix. Such a cute show! It will keep you laughing!!
Love your videos, wish you best of luck .
