Hi Miekhaela, I belive the knowldege and skilss that everyone has woul determined the experience being foreigner in korea grad school. Personally, my experience here is great and but I need to pace myself up to understand my major. For clinical, most universities require advanced proficiency in Korean language but my major does not necessarily require to have advaced but sufficient to work around. I am taking extra language classes outside my major for my personal language skills development. I would recommend you to visit yonsei psychology website to find out more about the foreigners requirement to enrol. Hope this helps

I was searching for the same things you are and I graduate in 2024. So far the knowledge I have is that Seoul National University (SNU) offers masters in psychology but not sure about clinical psychology. Also, most universities ask for a certain level of Korean proficiency proof and if you dont have it, you might have to take some classes there in Korea. There will be some downsides to studying in Korea but other than them it would be a good experience 💕

I'm looking as school like Daegu university, Korea University and Yonsei for a masters in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. I'm also planning on applying for the KGSP next year. Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I'm a graduate student and I don't know the academic life for the undergraduate. I can only share my graduate school experience. As for the language, 90% of the courses are taught in Korean and only a few are offered in English. You can choose to do assignments and exams in English but discussion with your classmates are in Korean. Hope this help.

Hi Yashpreet, thank you for watching. To answer your questions: 1) In my case, internship for postgraduate study is rather a choice. Instead of being provided, you are encouraged to find internship should you wish to experience it. Unless you plan to pursue on clinical or counseling setting, you'll probably will go through fieldwork and clinical practice at the hospital. 2) I am not certain on job opportunities for foreigner psychologist in Korea as I am not planning to stay here after graduation. So, I didn't search for it. Hope this helps

Hi, Yes. It is essential to be able to comprehend korean language. The syllabus is both in English and Korean while the class is conducted mostly in Korean.

@@muzaffarmahudin3669 I think cosidering application requirements, it doesn't matter 🤔🤔🤔 I know Korean on B2 level but I don't have a Topik certificate, did you have it before applying? And, did you have any papers published before applying? And, was it hard to get into the program, in your opinion? One last thing, did you apply right after you finished university? The reason I'm asking this is that I didn't apply after graduation and I'm worried that it will be a problem

@@fysh8898 1) You can use English certificate like IELTS or TOFEL for application. 2) I don't have any paper before I apply because Im doing master's degree. For PhD, applicants, master's thesis is requires as reference. 3) In my opinion, it's not difficult. I would advice you to contact personally with academic advisor of your preferred major. They will explain further. 4) It doesn't matter whether you applied right after graduation or otherwise. As long as you the passion, ability to support your finance (self funded / scholarship) should be okay. It won't affect your application process. Hope this helps! :)

Hi. I've been considering of pursuing my PhD in Clinical psychology from South Korea. However, I'm very unsure with the long term plan. I wish to do a job in Korea if I pursue a PhD there. Since you've been pursuing Masters from there, would you be so kind to enlighten me on the demand of psychologists there. Because I've been trying to find more & most people say that just like India (from where i belong), there is a lot of social stigma and less demand for psychologists. Hi Sachin, below is my response: 1. Yes, you can apply for psychology postgraduate in Korea even if you are not from psychology major during your Bachelor's. However, during your first semester, there will be pre-requisite courses you have to enrol with undergrad students such as research method and statistic course. 2. As far I know, all Korean Universities use Korean as a medium of instruction for the psychology major. The textbook and references may be in English, but Korean is widely used during class. 3. This part, I am not sure. I am not planning to work in Korea and therefore I don't search for information on foreign opportunities as a psychologist. 4. I personally don't know which universities are the best. But you may want to check Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei, and Sunkyunkwan University for the psychology majors. Hope this helps.
