In the last year, Hot Wheels went from 198 yen to around 300 yen in my area of Japan.

They tried to promote them for several years, but since last fall, many stores have been greatly reducing their stock. Now, many stores are focusing on selling the domestically produced Tomica cars.

$2? That's steep. A lot of Dollar Trees have them for $1.37 CA. But I'm glad to see a fantasy collector, not too many of them around. Usually it's the old dudes who collect the licensed cars and look down upon the fantasy collectors I feel. Also, what were those Chevy cars? My DollarTree isn't stacked like this. I see some nice Turbo Wheels too. At least my DT had these mini Monster Trucks.

This was my nearest Dollar Tree. We have others though I have not checked them out yet. But when I first went into this place looking for playing cards, I was greeted with the surprise of a huge hotwheels shelf. I'm hoping the other locations are the same. I'm also getting to the point where I need to start cataloging my cars because accidentally buying duplicates has occurred. Good thing my son is into them so at least I know the doubles are in good hands.
