Putin once said (paraphrase) that whoever did not regret the demise of the Soviet Union has no heart, but whoever wants to go back to the Soviet Union has no head. So, while Gorbachev's legacy is reviled by Putin and most Russians, they respect his view that the political and economic system was deeply flawed and had to be changed. Putin's mixed but respectful response to Gorbachev's passing is entirely consistent with the national sentiment.

Where do you live? Are you aware of how many wars have been carried out by UK-USA to take oil supplies? Don't you see how ethnic identities are disappearing while people move chasing the dream of a richer future just to live in an overcrowded and overpriced flat in a modern slavery mechanism? Are you aware that NATO countries are using ukrainians as cannon fodder just because they don't what to admit the strategic and economycal victory of a former kgb agent? If you think that liberal model is right, you literally missed 2 hundreds of history at school.

I am an American born and raised. I also consider myself an American Patriot. I was so devastated upon learning of the passing of General Secretary Gorbachev, former leader of the USSR. I really came to admire and respect him after then American President Reagan stated to us " I think he's man I can work with". Reagan spoke directly to Secretary Gorbachev on political issues and it always seemed to be accepted. On the day President Reagan after his death was lying in state at the Capital and Secretary Gorbachev stepped up to Reagan's flag draped casket and stood silently then bowed his head and actually reached his hand out and touched Old Glory solemnly bidding farewell I welled up emotion and respect for Gorbachev. Mr. Secretary I bid you farewell and may you rest in peace.
