I've been to the Vivo showroom twice and the display of the X100 Pro is really dim! Is this a faulty demo piece or is it dim? Even in the fairly bright showroom, it is too dim! Outside you can't see a thing. Yes, I checked all the settings. Even the guys in the shop were baffled! Anyone know why this is happening? On the Vivo website, I found "600 nits" (average?) and "3000 nits Local Peak Brightness" (brightest spot) But no one else seems to have had this problem so whassup? Thanks in advance for any replies, this phone is otherwise superb!

Thank you so much for testing color modes! Very interesting. Vivo has the upper edge for raw details, but I think it does way too much sharpening and that "amplifies" fine detail, as you said. I really love the natural rendering of Xiaomi (reminds the good old Nokia PureViews!) but has unquestionably less detail. Perhaps too much strain for its Leica lenses. Kudos for the APO ZEISS system.

Over sharpening and increasing structure doesn't call for better details. However it is important to note that both the devices are following different ideology in terms of photography, The xiaomi sticks to less processing and natural images while vivo sticks to higher processing images Although this might give an illusion of being "better" on screen the same will not be translated on a print. That said xiaomi should work on details While vivo should relax a bit with over sharpening and such enhancements The OppO is quite the middle stand between both of these devices.

nice review, why dont you try popping the cameras into manual, and pushing them a little, to what can actually be achieved if you use them like a real camera, you may be pleasantly surprised

As you said, let's wait for the new generation of ultra from Xiaomi for a more impartial comparison. It just lacked a few some comparative videos to get a complete idea. Very interesting, good format.

On the vivo x90 pro plus you can turn off the blue night sky in settings. Just check if you can also do that on your x100 pro 👍

But for selfies and potraits, the 13 ultra would have been the best camera phone in 2023. I'm very sure that vivo x100 pro would be a serious contender for the best camera in 2024. aren't those plenty detailed preservation overshapening effects?

Glad u like it... I don't think the oversharpening is particularly high... You can see it sometimes if you crop in... Like in the 10x 500% crop... But otherwise it's a good balance

I like the software on the x100 quite a lot... Boatloads of customisations and it's very smooth too... There is some bloatware but I got rid of that in under 5 min

10:50 is the only shot where the X100 Pro looked weird, with the overly blue sky and excessive fringing in the leaves and sky.

Xiaomi 14 ultra hold my beer , btw bro is higly underated

Please give us X90 pro vs X100 Pro

If you have the chance, can you review the X100 vanilla also? Would really love to see how the main camera with a smaller sensor and the shorter tele hold up to the X100 Pro.

That's the stabilizer in the camera... happens in most phones that have particularly large sensors

I would suggest x100❤

I'll go with vivo for this as the price of xiaomi 13 ultra in our country is far more expensive than vivo x 100 with better camera and processor

A lot of the detail on the x100 looks like over sharpening to me.

The vivo is just a monster.in its own category, such a shame it has a bad night mode on the front camera

Why front camera is so much important when you can twist the phone and shoot 😅😅😅 I do that most of the time....In the start there would be alignment and blur thing but once you master it you won't even care about front camera

Firstly... This is the best we can get from Xiaomi at the moment (except China)... And I think it shows how well the Xiaomi 13 ultra can keep up with the next gen flagships... Secondly this is not a Review... It's a camera comparison... I'm pretty clear abt that in the title... I'll make a review soon

8:25 Виво делает лишнюю резкость. Иногда это смотрится хорошо, иногда не совсем натурально. В любом случае, Mi 13Ultra старается сделать более мягкий снимок, который будет ближе к снимку цифрового фотоаппарата. Виво х100Про прибавляет контрастности и детализации, но делает это не всегда корректно. Часто страдают мелкие надписи, текст и цифры. Их контуры имеют не четкие очертания, на фоне излишней резкости. Но оба они фотографируют отлично, просто по разному. 17:58 у Х100Pro более агрессивный шумодав. Да, палец выглядит более четким, но если вместо пальца будет текст или цифры, то их контуры будут не совсем правильными, т.к. из за более агрессивного шумоподавления используется и усредняется больше информации между соседними пикселями.

7:36 x100 combines data from main and telephoto, kind of an old trick, huawei started doing it like 5 years ago. You should shoot raw for this comparison to be fair, so you don't just compare software. 8:27 it's not, vivo removed red thingy. 14:30 cover the the telephoto lens with your finger

The software is part of the camera's experience... It's even more important than hardware... Shooting raw would be pointless coz very few people would use raw and it requires grading which is subjective... You are right abt the red thingy though
