Genius, just plain genius. So much skill, so much emotion, so much life. Justin Vernon is truly a revolutionary, one of a kind.

The first word that came to mind for me was "genius". I scrolled down and You beat me to it. Haha!
This version is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I have ever heard
its incredible how many octaves he has in this song, so beautifully arranged!
Leaving out the obvious fact that he wasn't around for most of my life, I can't believe I've got to 62 and not heard this stuff! I found it by accident - it's the best accident I've ever had!

I took me 57 damn years, this sounds so much like Leonard Cohen one minute then Bruce Springsteen and then goddamned if it isn't just the pure genre shattering genius of Justin Vernon.

Check out all his albums and check out volcano choir too. That's his other band. Unbelievable. He has become my favorite artist and im a working musician. Not saying this lightly. He's the man
This is one hell of performance! I love how he's always changing his way of playing those limited number of songs. It's been 8 years and I still could listen to every song forever, and that's because they're still in evolution. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

hehe Schadenfreude is when someone is getting hurt and you're laughing about that :D (Schaden = damage, freude = joy) I'm sorry but we germans neither have a word for this sadly happy feeling (although I'm longing for one)

Much love from South Africa
I love this guy's songwriting. It's just this super deconstructed imagery. It sounds exactly like a memory. Not too much detail. Just a vibe or presence. Half spoken words. All of it. Absolutely brilliant .
this is the kind of music that stops everything around and brings you tears of...beauty. What a pearl, what a soul, what a musician. I'm happy we live on the same world.

Ingrida B. Gotta agree. There is genius in this mans art.
One of three songs that give me the feeling like I'm listening to it for the first time all over again every time I hear it. The original is great but this...this haunts me
That harmonica is God-like. To be honest, I actually kind of prefer this version to the original. This is road trip music through and through. Half-hoping that he records this at some point. I also really have to point out how much I love that he sings the last line into his harmonica to make it sound like it's distorting and fading. God I love this man.

its my favourite version of calgary😍
My daughter’s favorite. So thankful they played it for her in Atlanta 2022!
When I grow I wanna Bon Iver so much!! Just when I found the acoustic version of Calgary & deemed it the best version I find this harmonica blessed performance. Long Live Justin Vernon! Long live Bon Iver !!
Justin Vernon.... you are one of the most wonderful, beautiful, musical souls on this planet. Your music takes many of us to different places. Forever grateful for you.
jezussss...this guys singing just ripped my soul out...just simply 5 min of pure magic music....well done!
Absolutely in love with this version. He created a completely new song, which is equally as good as the original. I wish I had half as much vision as this man has.
As much as I love the album version (as well as some other live versions), this one blows all the others out of the water. I was absolutely floored the first time I heard/saw this. Given that it's Justin Vernon, I shouldn't be surprised by the quality of anything he touches, but DAMN. This is what perfect music and musicianship sounds like.
Listening to this before bed has become a bit of a ritual for me.
my heart is so full. thank you, bon iver.
This version of Calgary is the best accident of the year. And that harmonica is just gold. Thanks!
Wow!! the current Dylan/Bruce/Leonard---but better, truly!! I am in my 70's and have seen/heard them all.He is the real thing, and also Midwestern!!

This is probably the only time I have heard that old DeYarmond Edison sound fused with the Bon Iver we are used to. I thought this version worked incredibly
Going through a break up right now, with what was and is the best girl I've ever met. Days are weird and numb. Some better, some worse. This song has been on my head through the last days on loop. Can't say it's helping very much but at least gives me company through the hard times. Thank you Bon Iver ❤️
This is undeniably the definitive version of Calgary. MAN
Words fail to describe how amazing this is. Thank you
40 years forward, I'll be sitting with my grandchildren and telling them how this amazing classic track is timeless and I still enjoy it till this day, and watch the reactions on their faces when they discover this track and start listening to it with their friends and starting to be into "classic music" Hahahaha.
Keep coming back to this one. Easily the best performance ever recorded 🙂🙏
this song will make you just watch and listen even though you know every lyric. truly a masterpiece. bon your the man.
I'll never forget that night!
Perfect. His best version by far.
brought me to tears!!!!!! true GENIUS
SOBBING THIS IS TOO BEAUTIFUL
One of the most genuin, genious and gorgeous preformances ever!
This version is so pleasant to my ears and fits my mood on point to the core right now. Real and crispy

This was already an incredibly beautiful and emotional song but that harmonica just melts my heart. Combined with an acoustic guitar and his voice just brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for everything you give us, Justin.

Excellent camera work, I'd have to say.
This makes me so happy to see Justin peform like this. Was sorely missed at Eaux Claires this year!
What I most like about justin is those little details (like the transition between his voice and the harmonica 5:37), which definitely achieve perfection and is present in every song this guy produce
Thanks for sharing, i've got the chills from such a beautiful performance.
I can't stop listening. Hauntingly beautiful.
beauty in the eye of this beholder mwah xxx
How am I only finding this nowwwwww WOWOWOW He never ceases to amaze me. Holy Justin Allmighty< 3
No doubt one of the most amazing performance ever!!!! Full of magic
Now, if Justin would finally just come to Calgary, that would be perfect.

Justin, You take me back to the first place I fell in love in. Your voice takes me back to being 18, in college, in Seattle. Hearing you sing brings back the images of the ocean, the laughter I had with friends, and rhe beauty of the Pacific Northwest. You take me back.

Thankful for this
This song made me start playing harmonica
4:42 so much soul
This is incredible! I prefer it to the original because of the vulnerability and rawness, and the harmonica is a nice touch as well. WOW!
Reminds me of Bruce Springsteen - I'm on fire, such an excellent version!
beautiful
Incredible rework
This version of Calgary sounds a lot like Chris Rea - Looking For the Summer. It took me away to my childhood.
Great performance. And great soundwork, Xandy Whitesel! I'm glad you're listed in the credits. Nice work.
This song man. This song. I'm so angry the way this makes me feel but i fucking love it. I don't know.
=heaven
4:40 gave me goosebumps.
Love all the live uploads from this! Keep them coming!
Who hoo I'm from Calgary!
Very similar to 'Song for a Lover of Long ago' I wonder if he had this in mind when re-creating this song.
