Thank you Anthony! She is one of my favourites so I tried to do her work justice!

I've had this documentary saved since 2015 and never watched it until now. I am embarrassed to say, I finally watched it this past Friday. What a beautiful photographer she was! Even though Vivian Maier is not with us, she remains one of the best photographers ever.

She's as raw as they get praise God her work has come out

Excellent video, love Vivian Maier’s work. Photography in its purest form, never did it for the likes or money & I guess she never expected for any of it to ever see the light of day. 10/10 & a new subscriber

Absolutely love her work, i have thought a lot about the argument of her privacy, then i look at her pictures and the amount of self portraits is staggering, which indicates too me she wanted her pictures to be indentified with her, to say i took these.

I very much enjoyed this, such a thoughtful introduction for anyone new to her work. I had such a profound reaction to seeing her work early on, that within a couple of hours I had got on a train and gone into London to a gallery that held some of her images, three of which I now own. Like many people I find her story fascinating, but as you very rightly say, we mustn’t become distracted from just how brilliant her work was. Looking at her contact sheets, tells you how extraordinary her eye was. The documentary is great, of course, but if you haven’t already seen it there was an excellent BBC documentary which sheds further light and was part of the Imagine series.

Thank you so much Fiona! I’ve got a great respect for Vivian’s work so I’m so glad you enjoyed this. I’ve yet to actually see an exhibition of her work but I hope to one day do so, and I definitely didn’t know about the BBC documentary thank you for sharing!

Having all the modern gadgets, super fast lenses, and AI-enabled Autofocus many of us still can't match her. It's not the camera.

I think you’d love the documentary of her. It goes into deeper meaning of her perspective of the world.

I agree. I doubt Vivian saw life through a political lens. The narrator sounds demoralized and submissive to present trends.
