. . . . . was wünschte ich mir daß eine Frau wie Mingardo Sonntags in der Frühe in einem fast Menschleeren Park singt, es wäre so als ob ein Wanderer unverhofft mitten im Wald auf eine Kirche stößt. Grüße

La mejor versión grabada que se pude hallar. La de Berganza, más elegante y de menos mesurada orquestación, me gusta sólo un poco menos que ésta.

More or less, after the 6th minute, a womderful Adagio (or a Largo) starts. Maybe the most enchanting part of the whole Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus. It was in the slow pieces where the composers would permit executors to be free as for their own interpretations. Barock Adagios and Largos sound incredibly modern, whereas the rapid movements sound aged, not innovative

The Stutzmann recording I could find was an mp3 copying a 2000 recording with Kings Consort. The voice colours are very different. I wouldn't compare the two because Mingardos recording is so good. And the other is not. Mingardo is a fabulous contralto. Heard her live in Adelaide Feb 2020 in the nick of time just before Covoid 9 hit SA. Hope she is ok in Italy.

they are veeery different. Berganza singing is great, but lacks baroque style. Her voice is also rather high to my taste. Stutzman's voice is very low, but at the same time it's rather flat and lacking agility. Mingardo's voice is stylish ,low and agile.

This is a spellbinding performance. But it does not detract from the qualities of Berganza (God give her peace) whose enchanting stage presence, sweet virtuosity and effortless nonchalance (the Italians call this "sprezzatura") were in a class of her own.
