This episode mentions a number of genetic polymorphisms in the vitamin C transporter that are associated with up to a 50% reduction in vitamin C transport into cells. If you have used any of the many major consumer genetic tests out there, such as 23andme, then it's possible you have a raw genetic data file that you can mine for additional goodies using my website. You can run a totally free report that covers SNPs involved in vitamin C transport, among others, by going to www.foundmyfitness.com/geneti....

I took 30-40,000 mg of C daily for a couple of years to reverse systemic inflammation and heart issues. I took 3-4 grams per hour for 10 hours each day without reaching bowel tolerance. At the beginning, it was 4 grams per hour. After about a year, 4g was loosening my stool, so I dropped to 3 per hour. I'm now back and healthy and my maximum per day is 10-12g before hitting bowel tolerance.

However, a dose of regular oral C that causes diarrhea just means you've taken more at one time than the body can absorb and use. Normally, the sicker you are the higher the dose you can take without reaching bowel tolerance as Antony Reed's post shows.

I just thought I'd offer this, that is what happened to me today. 2 days ago I felt a cold coming on. The back of my throat got a bit tender, that's how I know when I'm getting a cold. I bought a bottle of vitamin C 500mg tablets, and started taking 2 tablets 3 to 4 times Thursday, Friday and as well as today. I'm going to a kidney specialist come the 21st of December. I'v seen a lot of foam in my urine but today 3 times I'v urinated and the result was. 1st time no foam 2nd time some bubbles but quickly dissipated 3rd time also some bubbles and quickly dissipated again. This had not been the case for the last couple of months that I've noticed the foam in my urine. I found it interesting so I went looking on KZread about vitamin C. I came across this video and figured I'd share what im experiencing. I plan on telling the kidney specialist when I see him. Hope you find this interesting. PS. Just went again still the same but 1 important thing I forgot to include my urine was a dark yellow but now it just has a yellow tint to it. It's a huge difference in just a short period of time. I'm talking 24 to 48 hrs. Anyway had to add this as well.

In the short term it kills a few virals due to the oxidation reaction with iron that releases free radicals, yet of coarse this will lead to massive cancer formations down the road...very poor way to do medicine OR science, yet we all know how many fans of such a dastardly big business big pharma idea such has today!

Thank you Rhonda this was excellent. Unfortunately many of the studies you say are needed will never happen because big pharma can't patent Vitamin C so no profit = no studies. In fact any evidence of its effectiveness will be squashed because they would lose billions because vitamin C would make many of their toxic drugs unnecessary. I salute you for getting the word out on Vitamin C in an honest manner.

There's nothing stopping the Vitamin C manufacturers from pooling their money to fund studies. Unless they prefer a world where people will take it without proof and make up stories about why there are no studies. Also, there's nothing particular to Vitamin C stopping universities from publishing papers on Vitamin C. Also, "quashed." Oranges are squashed.

That’s not true. Academic medical centers, and many private groups or hospitals, run studies all the time that are not funded by pharmaceutical companies. Human research is somewhat tedious to perform due to the regulations, approval process, and training involved. This is not a bad thing but it does mean that research can be slow and a single study may take years to complete.

it's amazing how many times i have to address this. Linus killed himself and both his doctor and wife with his advice. THEY all three died of cancer from cramming as much artificial/synthetic vitamin C into their mouths as they could until it started coming out there feces. They expected this strange idea would bring them natural miracle like health...each of them looked very ill while they were passing using this concept...now thousands, maybe even millions follow their concepts....Linus even sped his damage up with urine therapy. Take natural vitamins (food matrix etc) in NATURAL amounts, has worked for many thousands of years, and is the number one recommended way...REMEMBER BASICS, and connect the dots, case histories of all those 3 I just mentioned PROVE what caused their demise...now how come big pharma didn't tell you about this? Oh they sell MOST of the artificial vitamin C...well of coarse.

It would have been helpful if there was a summary with bullet points of the findings that can be translated to normal population, and how people can use the information that you provided. e.g. when taking vitamin C orally it's better to take it twice or few times a day, than just once a day higher doze because....the plazma and vitamin C will stay higher.

Seems there's a link on the need for vitamin C and carbohydrates as energy source. Check Charlene Anderson, she's been on red meat for 23 years (for her lyme's disease) and hasn't developed scurvy nor any other ailment. You'll see she looks younger than when se was 25!! we know nothing yet. Check the Peterson's family, they are now doing the same for their auto immune issues, and they've never been healthier. In those rare cases, I'd love if there were more studies.

I am an 89 year old retired general surgeon. Did you know that Gray’s Anatomy in med school states that the adrenal glands contain the highest concentration of Vit C in the body? The adrenal cortex contain cortisone. The adrenal center contains adrenaline. You know what these chemicals do. For 50 years now, I take 2,000 mg of Vit C everyday. It is extremely rare that I get a cold. If I do get a cold, I take 2,000 mg 3 x a day. My cold goes away in 2 days. Experiments in stress cause a great reduction in the Vit C blood level after a stressful s stimulus is given. It takes several delays before the Vit C level goes back to normal. A curious observation is that my fingers have remained normal looking (straight) while my wife’s fingers are crooked from washing dishes!
