@@LinkRocks people tend to forget that her heyday wasn't the 1950's, it was the 1930's. She plays young well but I believe she was in her mid 40's by this. An actor of the romance and grief movie period preferably always knew the ways to captivate in audience. And because quite frankly women were very pushy born between 1910-1920.

My Aunt Margie was one of several elevator operators in a department store in NYC (maybe Macy's, I don't remember) back in the early '30's. Lucille Ball was her coworker, multitasking as a model to make ends meet while auditioning for acting parts.My aunt told us that she was the most beautiful woman she'd ever seen in person. She's definitely slurring the word "health". You can see the tip of her tongue pushed forward for the "th" sound. Her tongue would curl up if she was saying "hell".

It's funny how most of the medicine back then was really just high doses of alcohol meaning that it really doesn't do anything but get you drunk if taken a lot! 🤣🤣🤣

Basically, yeah. A lot of moonshine mixed with a bit of vitamins. A spoonful was practically the same alcohol content and a shot of liquor.

Actually the alcohol was the LEAST concern. Back then they used cocaine, alcohol, cannabis, chloroform, and morphine.. So yea.

The director,of,the commercial was also the director of the I Love Lucy show and he said that it was a good thing his back was to,the camera because he was absolutely cracking up.

@@LinkRocks people tend to forget that her heyday wasn't the 1950's, it was the 1930's. She plays young well but I believe she was in her mid 40's by this. An actor of the romance and grief movie period preferably always knew the ways to captivate in audience. And because quite frankly women were very pushy born between 1910-1920.
This is one of the funniest routine ever. Playing a drunk is so difficult some of the best actors can not play a drunk but she nails it. I have a friend who drinks a lot is just like her.

I agree! A lot of words / lines to remember, and memorize, and then repeat them quickly while undergoing a fake transformation. She was a comic genius!

Perfect timing, brilliant delivery... No one in television possessed her talent. The camera loved her, and she owned the room. There will never be another Lucille Ball. I LOVE LUCY!!!!

basically. I mean we don't have that kind of silly tonic these days, but we will never stop having quackish products.
There are only a handful of things in my life that can still make me laugh out loud until my eyes squint. This scene from I Love Lucy is at the top of the list.😆

I never laughed so hard after seeing this episode for the first time when I was a child! Lucy's acting was always spot on because she was a perfectionist!

I used to watch “I Love Lucy” played by Lucille Ball before she died in 1989 and I still loved 🥰 her hair style it’s beautiful 🤩 I always remember Lucille Ball even though she’s gone forever ♾ I also watched “The Lucy Show” years ago and in the 1940s RKO became Desilu studios and amazing 🤩 times I have with my life.👍
THIS SITCOM IS STILL A CLASSIC AFTER 70 YEARS.

I always saw a bit of Lucille Ball in Debra Messing. Not only does she look a lot like Lucy, but her comedy style is so much like hers as well.

We did a Filipino version of this in the 90s! Philippines' King of Comedy, Dolphy recreated this scene using an alcoholic drink - the Banayad Whiskey! 🥃🤣🤣🤣 Everything really is a remix. Lucy is the OG!
This episode was one of my favorites. I Love Lucy was the best comedy show ever made and Lucille Ball was a comic genius.

You really have to see the entire sketch. This is edited down. The set up and everything makes it perfection. It’s about 8 minutes total. Works better.

That first taste is hella funny. The way she wants to throw up but she don't want to lose the gig so she swallows the damn thing. And you can hear Desi and William losing their minds laughing in the background. Lol
My Aunt Margie was one of several elevator operators in a department store in NYC (maybe Macy's, I don't remember) back in the early '30's. Lucille Ball was her coworker, multitasking as a model to make ends meet while auditioning for acting parts.My aunt told us that she was the most beautiful woman she'd ever seen in person. Funny, too.
I love Lucy is still best show ever. These show will never be match or touch. I love Lucille ball natural humor and style. I'm Californian and proud of Hollywood. Rest in peace Lucille ball you are miss so much.

i STILL laugh massively at this scene, made the mistake of having a snack while watching this today and choked after that 3rd teaspoon she had with the little hiccup hahaha. Apparently she didn't like this scene when she did it..you wouldnt think it to watch it. I just wish it was the full scene

I recently watched all episodes of ''Married ... With Children'' and they DEFINITELY had a spoof of this somewhere near the later seasons, where Kelly shot a commercial for some diet drink.

Spike Spiegel well the bottle contains 36% alcohol which is a lot and almost the same amount as a bottle of fireball or Jacks Daniels would be.
