I think this is the best performance of Chaconne by Vitali. Sarah Chang’s tempo wasn’t deathly slow, the quality of her sound is perfect, and the way she played is very musical. Besides Sarah Chang’s version, I also love Oistrakh’s performance.

Stunning violinist Sarah Chang and yes the movie is amazing especially the ''End of the world'' at 3:53 then life re emerges at 4:46 in the form of plants and flowers !! Probably the way it would happen if a disaster like a huge asteroid did hit the Earth.

I prefer Heifetz (with Ellsasser) version, it has a darker tone to it. Chang's is great technically too.

This is phenomenal. I remember seeing her perform this masterpiece for the British Red Cross in Kinghtsbridge in 2015 and my goodness she was out of this world. An exceptional violinist.

The saddest day of my life was when I had to miss her performance in Shanghai, and also have the chance to meet her after some communication back and forth. Anyway...as always...this performance shows the depth of her being in every note. Beyond beautiful....not sad...introspective...contemplative....reflective...loving...with a regret here and there.

Yes Midori is a great violinist , no doubt of that but many debate who is the best ever which is impossible to say, much of it is down to personal taste. I merely said that Sarah Chang is the best violinist that I have myself personally seen play live, meaning being in person at these concerts and comparing other live concerts I have been to where and when other violinists have played.

People always give me a hard time about listening to classical/instrumental/opera - guess if you see me you might understand why. I'm a total metal-head. I honestly couldn't care less what they think, I just wish they'd appreciate the skill, the devotion, the raw emotion of these pieces. The only true universal language. ...Love Sarah Chang...

It's not random, but I must say i did 2 years to understand it! First it's about the magnificence of the earth: mountains, trees, ... the beauty earth in general. But then at 4:00 you see the earth will be destroyed. Then you have this extremely beautiful passage of music (4:17-4:40) when you see the earth being destroyed. And then the earth begins again with growing. Plants are growing. Life is growing again. Everything that was destroyed is restoring. At the end everything is again magnificent but with the memory of the destroyed stuff in the memory.

The video is so different from what I've imagined listening the Vitali. I always have connected human being to this piece. At the scene of stiff waterfall and so dazzling rainbow, I see a human who fall down to the water being bewitched by the rainbow and throwing away all the sorrow he suffered from. Yes I know what you mean, saw her in concert in London 2010 and 2011 when she played the Bruch violin concerto. So much artistry and power, blows you away. No one else compares

To be fair I think she is calling this piece a 'song' because modern music is almost always in the form of songs. So she has become used to thinking of pieces of music as songs. There is nothing wrong with that, it is just the way she has experienced music.

The video is so different from what I've imagined listening the Vitali. I always have connected human being to this piece. At the scene of stiff waterfall and so dazzling rainbow, I see a human who fall down to the water being bewitched by the rainbow and throwing away all the sorrow he suffered from. You all must have your own imagination from this?

Yes I know what you mean, saw her in concert in London 2010 and 2011 when she played the Bruch violin concerto. So much artistry and power, blows you away. No one else compares
Especially when I first heard her version with piano accompaniment, my heart stopped :)

Song usually a short piece of music which is sung. Might be accompanied by one or more musical instruments.

To be fair I think she is calling this piece a 'song' because modern music is almost always in the form of songs. So she has become used to thinking of pieces of music as songs. There is nothing wrong with that, it is just the way she has experienced music.
