Visualize complex survey data in Power BI
Ғылым және технология
In this video, we presented a cool way to visualize survey data into Power BI. The challenge in this example is that there are multiple items in a column, which complicates the analysis because we cannot split that column and then unpivot it in the main table (because we have other columns in the dataset that we need to visualize, and unpivoting would make them unuseful)

Simply resolved the issue of multiple response analysis. Thanks you
The amount of precision and detail in your videos is very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you soo much, the way you explain the proccess makes it really easy to follow. :)
Amazing video, it took me super long to find a video that covers this topic well; super happy that I found this. Thank you so much!
This is exellent and well explained! Just what I required.
Thank you so much for making this. I was really stuck on how to get this type of survey data to work in Power BI. This is great!
Very detailed explanation on how to solve a tricky problem with clear reasoning why. Thanks for putting together such helpful video.
Hi, i am from Perú. You don't know how i suffered for a guide for build a graph and analyze a multiple choice survey data. No info in spanish, no info in Power BI community. Just you had the answer and finally i finished. Your video is gold and you need to put a guide for step by step that pivot and procedures that are very complex but useful in analizing multiple choice questions. Sound is not good, however the content is a gem. Thank you :) New Suscriber.

Thank you - it was doing my head in how to create the data model, which is the key to this problem. Great simple steps. You're very kind - thanks so much!
This is exactly what I needed to learn! Thank you!
Thanks for this excellent explanation - it solved my issue immediately
Life saver! Thanks a ton!
Great video, well illustrated each steps. If you make a video for likert scale data visualization that would be super perfect ...
thank you for your guide, it í very helpful
Great work done
This helpt me very much, keep ut the good work!
many many thanks!
Thank you!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great
Nice
This is really cool stuff! Question, if I want to create measures that show the % of individuals who use each program what is the best way to go about doing that? Additionally, if I want to add slicers, for example a slicer for each department they work in what is the best way to go about doing that while still showing the aforementioned percentage measures correctly? Thank you for posting this, really helpful stuff.
Very good and useful video, thank you so much, I would like to practice what I learned in this video, could u please share the dataset?
Thanks, for the video! Very helpful. But what if I want to display the data as a percentage (but no the grand total percentage)?

Thanks brother :)
Excellent explanation. can we get the sample data for excercise.
Hi! Great video. My forms is addign a semi-colon to the final word, so PowerBI creates an additional empty "value" next to the indexes. I see that you have no special characters at the end of your multiple choice answers. Wondering if anyone had a solution so I could strip it out automatically/prevent the emptry row being made? (yours says "Word, Excel" whilemine says "Word;Excel;" for instance)
Hi, thanks for the video. Have a question. Do you know how to automate these steps with scripts to do not repeat manually for each column? Let's think we have a list of target columns.

I don't think we can do much to improve this sorry!
Hi, thank you for your video, it's really useful. I just have one more question, is it possible to create the same visualizations of programs and motivators for percentage of employees, not number? Thank you!

Yes, absolutely, the simpliest way is to choose the value to show as % of total
The video is excellent. Help me start breaking apart my survey, but I hit a snag. I am hoping someone can give me advice. The survey has 62 questions and 5 possible responses. I did separate columns, like gender, to another table using the index option shown in the video. However, with the questions, I would like to group them by category and perform calculations. For example, questions 1-8 are about Job Satisfaction and questions 9-14 are about Compensation. So I might want a break down of Female Hispanics. Any advice?
Thanks for a great video! May I know how do I go about if I wanna see how many respondents have BOTH Outlook and Excel in their answers?

You just select both in the slicer
can you do a crosstab table wherein the gender is separated into 2 columns pls. thanks
Was there a reason you did not uses Split Column by Delimiter Advanced option to split into rows instead of columns?

I didn’t know that option at that time 😆
Please provide the dataset in the description, it would be really helpful.

Here is the link for the dataset: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IdhysazoUFzAlOROrHjPFeK9q5GaRRMd?usp=sharing Let me know if you need anything else
can you post the resources?
I am surprised that you did not get Error codes due to duplicates in the index column

No problem in 1:N relationship
The volume is too low
Interesting but why did you not leave it as a one-to-many relationship.

It would not filter

@@BIDataLab Yes do agree but why would you need to filter as you can create a measure of "countrows" on the table you pulled out from the main table.
@BIDataLab

@@carltonseymour869 You can try it yourself, it will not work because of the filters we are taking from the other tables, and to filter that main table (where we create the countrows measure), the filter should be bidirectional. Of course, there are other advanced ways to create measures, but this approach is the easiest one.

@@BIDataLab Thank you t is definitely the easiest.
Unfortunately I cant hear you even with my PC's volume turned up to maximum
Thank you!
