[Visiting tourist spots in Shikoku, Japan] Uwajima Castle

Shiroyama/Uwajima Castle [12 remaining castle towers]
The southern seas' Date clan: the residence of 9 generations of the Uwajima Date clan
Uwajima Castle, where one of the 12 remaining castle towers still stands, was the residence of 9 generations of the Western Date clan from when Masamune Date's eldest son Hidemune entered the castle in 1615 until the Meiji era.
The castle tower designated as an important cultural property and structure by the government is the Kanbun castle tower, built around 1666 by Muneto, the second lord of the Uwajima Date clan.
There used to be a castle tower built in 1601 by Todo Takatora, a famous castle builder, and the shogunate was notified of the repairs, but it was completely rebuilt by Muneto, including the stone walls of the castle tower base, so the appearance of the Keicho castle tower can only be seen in drawings.
