I wasn't going to click this video but damn this was really amazing knowledge that you shared. Thank you so much. I have never heard of these kinds of communities before and I feel so glad they exist. People are actually doing something and researching ways to live In a sustainable manner in a modern form. Damn this is really amazing. They definitely need to share more insights about how they live so people can learn from them

Very interesting. I was really drawn in by the solar concentrator design and am really impressed on the systems that I see they are practically using appears. The concentrator focused on the large cooking kettle seems really neat. That is way awesome as well as the larger concentrating trough for cooking. Wow! Larger scale implements. That is really awesome! Makes me wonder now about extrusion of plastic sheets to recycle with not only novel products developed... new also. So, like I've thought about solar concentrating larger scale for feeding heat and to advance controls in kilns and furnaces for pottery, glass and metal... why not even easier.... plastics!!! HHhmmm... why not? Proven sintered 3D printing has been performed. Not saying 3D plastic printed completely solar powered can't be performed... however... why not at least augment or ideally completely control with advanced controls the heating of the extrusion process maybe for starters? I've not seen before. That would be great. I'm not sure the bio-equivalent greatness of plastics that brake down into nano or small particles being so good. We need to recycle the material since last long as well as like more toxic products, keep in locations where we do not consumer or ingest. Underground I personally feel is best if there is an aesthetic issue and concern... or under layers like wrapping housing or basements. So I think that is one reason when I think of the plastic as a film or thinner material already... why not figured out how to make into sheets as-is or even amended with other fibers or minerals (that might add more recycling complexity to begin with) for longer term hydro, pneuma, thermal and pressure or even electromagnetic spectrum insulation capabilities.

What about healthcare? There’s no doctor in the community, probably because Portugal has universal healthcare, but how do they give back to the greater community to feel worthy to take advantage of one of the modern luxuries they have chosen to distance themselves from? Do they still pay taxes, and if so, where does their money come from? If they don’t sell produce, and their solar cookers are for themselves, what is their export/ source of income? I like the idea of places like these, but how do they get to seemingly pick and choose which conveniences to take advantage of, and which inconveniences to leave behind? Maybe it just wasn’t included in the video, and I’m jumping to conclusions, but it seems a little too perfect without any catches or compromises.

I don't understand why people consider different ways to live means it is wrong. Maybe ask yourself: Do all of the members live and work in the community? If no, they have to pay income tax, and get money to afford the 75% of the food they are not producing. Do all kids are home-schooled or is there a school in the community? Maybe, but until which level? Who owns the land? If it is not the mafia, then the owners have to pay taxes and even though I believe construction laws in Portugal not to let you do whatever you want ... So, as a short answer, it is not because you live differently that you are an outlaw. And even if you wanted to, you could not decide to be out of the society. I am very sure, they are all perfectly legal portugal residents and tax payers.... or after 45 years, they would be in jail and the community would have been taken over by local autorities.

I’ve been to Tamera for three months cumulatively. I find it frustrating. I think that the new generation has pretty much given up on the man-woman question. I agree strongly with Bori’s wish to get back to fundamental research. I also agree that they don’t share what they have learned and know- and I think it’s not just about the Internet- as a visitor, there is a thick psychological wall set up. For example, they never teach about love archetypes, or forum. As a matter of policy. They teach people ideas, but never implementation. There’s a passage in Eros Unredeemed that says “mainstream liberals love to discuss ideas endlessly but do not like to actually experiment or get involved.” The irony, of reading that passage, over and over, in different study groups at Tamera. (Sigh.) I love Tamera, but also find that it can be incredibly obtuse.

@@martam7258 Right: The Political Theory, as they call it at Tamera. Tamerans believe that when they successfully create a Healing Biotope that is truly in coherence with the laws of life (the "Sacred Matrix," in the language of Tamera,) that Healing Biotopes will prevail globally. That may sound mystical and ridiculous -- I don't think that it is. The idea is kind of like: Once somebody (like the Wright Brothers) creates a working airplane, in short order airplanes will appear around the world globally. The time between the Wright Brothers first flight and the first commercial airlines was about 10 years. So I don't think that the Political Theory or the Plan of Healing Biotopes is absurd. That said, I think that Tamerans underestimate just what it will take to create a working Healing Biotope, and they would be the first to admit that they have not yet created a Healing Biotope. But I believe that that is where they are focusing their efforts: internally. I think that they are kind of racing: Focusing on internal development, focusing on internal development, focusing on internal development. Communication with outsiders is slow, and fraught. They will teach and project communities out into the world, but on their own terms, entirely. They trust what they have contact with, and contact in these realms essentially means being a Tameran, or at least living in Tamera full time for a period of years. Which, by the way, you cannot do, because: Portuguese zoning codes. They'd love to expand, but they are already illegally over-capacity. They have been granted temporary reprieve, but they cannot take on more people. This is what I have been able to glean, so far, at least.

15:13 right, if this project is helping towards a solution for sustainable living why would they not want it to be replicated easily every where in the world, sometimes stating an obvious point need to be said by outsiders

Good morning Dave & team I hope you guys are all well. I've been following your movement for a long time now... Actually from the beginning and I feel strongly about recycling and reusing materials. Together with my brother, we have now launched a program in the UK about hair salons and Spas becoming more sustainable by changing the way they recycle. Our website is www.salonsustainability.club

I don't know if this will help since this video is a year old but you mentioned that "Permaculture isn't on the internet much". Factually that statement is partially wrong. Permaculture is all over the internet you just need to know the terminology since not all permaculturalists advertise what they are doing as Permaculture. There are books that you can buy as well. Here is some terminology for you that might help. Chicken Tractors/ Chicken tractor on steroids, Rotational grazing/ mob grazing, Companion planting, Swales, Rocket stoves, Hugelkultur, no-dig gardens, SuperAdobe, Cob/Strawbale building, cordwood building, rainwater collection, you can pretty much look up permaculture and any farm animal and they will have suggestions for you. Another reason Permaculture is hard to find is that things that started as Permaculter went mainstream or they borrowed/ adapted from the mainstream. Well, I hope this helps.

There's one major issue for me. Veganism. I'm unaware of any independent long term studies on the matter. I'm led to believe that fats from meats are required for a healthy functioning brain. Anyone?

The basic building blocks of matter are not atoms, but instead are energy, frequency, and information. Earth with its atmosphere and magnetic field, with its waters and landscapes, with its creatures, biotopes (healing villages like Temera) and human societies, is an integral, oscillating and living body that can be healed, just as a human body can be healed if the appropriate medicine, (appropriate information) is administered- Dieter Duhm
