Visit to St. Therese's Carmelite convent in Lisieux

This video shows an October 2008 visit to St. Therese's Carmelite convent in Lisieux,France. It re-opened in May 2008 after remodeling and construction.
One of the interesting things newly on display is the costume of Joan of Arc that Therese wore for the play that she wrote. A pitchfork from the time period was added to the display of the garden tools. Also Therese's habit was displayed in a manner different from before so that one can see where the crucifix from her profession is carried.
St. Therese's hair is now on display at her childhood home, les Buissonets.
The musical instrument being played is a zither which is frequently used in monastic communities.

Two years ago, the Little Flower came to me in a dream and told me to take care of my breasts. I had not had a mammogram in 10 years; quickly had one and they found stage one cancer which was treated and I am fine. St. Therese was my confirmation saint 43 years ago and she still listens to my prayers. Her message of LOVE is always inspiring. Thank you for this wonderful video.

Thank you for sharing this video with us... I also would like to visit the tomb of St. Therese, but it is utterly impossible at the moment given my own circumstances; however, I am not giving up on the hope that one day, I can see with my own two eyes this beautiful place and walk where St. Therese once did. Thank you!

@siobhansmommy That is very beautiful commentary about Therese and the Carmel, les Buissonets. Her hair is displayed now in the bedroom of her healing at les Buissonets because it is part of her early life. In recent years the Carmel has allowed many amazing things to be displayed in a yearly exhibit at St Jacques.

Seeing the public part of the Carmel as it is now, remodeled, would come as quite a "surprise" to many pilgrims who had visited it in the past. The side altars are gone in the chapel and the relic room is very modern with the concrete walls. The chapel is much more a monastic chapel now with the focus strictly on Jesus.

None of the photos were taken inside the enclosed area of the nuns, all these areas are available for pilgrims to see. One does not ask for permission to enter through Rome, one would ask the prioress and it is hardly ever allowed.
