Visit the Nk'mip Desert Cultural Center with Sheri Stelkia | Osoyoos Indian Band

Have you heard of Chief Clarence Louie, from the Osoyoos Indian Band? In this deep dive video, Sheri and Shaïra bring us to visit the Nk'mip Desert Cultural Center. The Osoyoos Indian band, led by Chief Clarence Louie, is famous for its economic prosperity and development of a vineyard, a winery, a four-star resort, a 9-hole golf course, and of course, the Nk'mip Desert Cultural Center.
Sheri is giving us a little tour around the centrer, and we will learn about the plants, how they dry salmon on racks, what a summer house looks like and much more!
The Osoyoos Desert Centre is located within a semi-arid shrub-steppe desert environment, which happens to be one of the most endangered ecosystems in Canada. The Centre’s mission is twofold: to showcase the Okanagan Desert and the rich culture of the Okanagan people, while also advocating for conservation efforts to protect desert wildlife
