Visit of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo | A famous museum of Egyptian antiquities | Trip to Egypt 2021

The Egyptian Museum Cairo, also known as The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, is the world's largest museum of ancient Egyptian art. It contains works from different periods of ancient Egyptian cultural history: Early History, Thinite Period, Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom, Third Intermediate Period and Late Period, and Greco-Roman Period. The building, which is expected to be in use until 2022, stands on Al-Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo and was built in 1900 in the neoclassical style according to plans by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon. It was opened in 1902. The museum is run by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, formerly the Antiquities Service of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

When I look at this museum compared to any other, it all seems so complex and unordinary. The advanced design and art of the Egyptian culture seems so modern but ancient. So Extraordinary.

interestingly, some of the artefacts looks like they have been "restored" not that long ago (i'm not any expert on this, on the other hand, tbh)), and on very amateur way, if i may add. but is always amazing to see this thing in real, love the craftsmanship and accuracy od ancient egiptian masters. i could not believe how skilful they have been, especially on small/micro items, it's hard to believe they were made by hand, not with machine (i only seen nefretiti exhibition in berlin so far).

I saw Tut’s treasures about 12 years ago. I could not take any photos or videos at all even I was allowed to bring my camera. I am wondering these are still in EM in Cairo or moved to GEM? I love to take videos of these in the new museum. I hope these are displayed so that we can see them without glass cases with plenty of spaces.

According to my latest information, the GEM will not open before the end of 2023. Until then, Tut's treasures will certainly remain in the EM.

Your video is great, very nicely done. My first time in Egypt was in 1998 and my second was in September this year. I must make a note regarding the King Tut mask. It really looks fake like a poorly made copy. I wasn`t allowed to take any pictures this year, however I looked at my old photos from the 90`s and the mask was much more shiny and it looks far more authentic than the one I saw few months ago and the one in your video. I heard that they damaged it during a botched repair attempt so it`s possible that they replaced it with a replica.

Thank you very much for your feedback and interesting report on the authenticity of the mask 🙂 That would be really terrible if the mask had been damaged during repair work. Does anyone have any further information on this?

@@KaimarkLifestyle In 2014 the beard was knocked off during cleaning and it took several international art restauration experts to reattach it. That`s why I suspect that the mask on display might be a copy. When I visited the Egyptian Museum, this year the mask was located in a poorly lit room and no photos were allowed which I thought was very strange.

I think a lot these ancient Egypt's work of art weren't really don't by the Egyptians, even some of the pyramids weren't really built by them but by enslaved people from different races, especially the Israelites.
