Visit of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to the Philippine Coast Guard

On the last leg of his activities in the country, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan pays a visit to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Headquarters in Port Area, Manila on November 4, 2023.
In his meeting with Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista and PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, the Prime Minister expresses his utmost respect for the PCG and conveys Japan’s commitment to contribute to the enhancement of its capabilities in maintaining maritime order based on the rule of law.
During his visit, Prime Minister Kishida boards the 97-meter multi-role response vessel (MRRV) 9701 BRP Teresa Magbanua, which was constructed in Japan. This patrol vessel enhances the PCG’s maritime capability and maritime domain awareness.
The Japanese leader is scheduled to depart Manila as he concludes his engagement at the PCG.
