🌟 May I second that ? 🙏❤️
The rhinoceros never arrived alive in Italy. There was a shipwreck and she died chained to the boat. Her body was recovered, returned to Lisbon, was stuffed and sent again to the Pope. When in Lisbon, alive, she was a model for several artists. In the end some of these drawings and prints inspired the famous Dürer's Rhinoceros. Her nickname was "Abada" feminine for Abade (Abbot) because of her skin plaques that looked like a clergyman cloak. It gave origin to the Portuguese saying "Levar uma Abada" which means loosing a game by lots of points. It started when a fight between an elephant and Abada was staged in Terreiro do Paço. The elephant was so terrified that run all the way to Belém.
Olli and Stephanie are so good explaining the history in a fun fun way Thanks ❤❤
I must say, Ollie is adorable. You two make a great team imparting all your travel knowledge from far away places! Thanks so much💕
Portugal keeps getting higher on my bucket list. What a beautiful and creative country.
That was so much fun to come along with to Lisbon.❤
I have wanted to go to Lisbon for my next European adventure, but now I am even more anxious to get there and Porto and the rest of Portugal. Feeling very inspired for 2025! Ollie, you showed remarkable restraint with the custard tarts. If I had been carrying them a lot more would have disappeared! Thank you for the video! Have a lovely week!
I've said it before but I'll say it again 'Stephanie you are a natural' you're presenting is a delight with no umming and arring. A great foil with Ollie a really really enjoyable vlog.
Sorry Oliver that you had felt unwell recently, good to see you back smiling.
You two are the best travel team out there! Honestly, I just want to go everywhere you go! Fantastic!
I absolutely love this channel. Both of you exhibit incredible talent in presenting, and you pack each episode with so much knowledge. I really am grateful for the time you must put into planning. Thank you!
Stephanie and Ollie you introduce all to the very best Travel Vlog ever ! Garum is now on my list ! Lisbon looks divine but have to say Venice was and is still the best. !
I have to remember when traveling to Europe to make a playlist and have earphones to see everything especially in museums. The music you played made me more intrigued. Thank you for all the giggles.
I DID enjoy this!!!! Thanks again for taking us with you, showing us a little part of Lisbon with such interesting historical facts delivered excellently as always! 😃🥂🍾🥰🙅♀️🙅♀️
Imagine the coaches with all the old yellow varnish taken off. I bet the paintings were incredibly colorful and bright at the time. Oh, a girl can dream.
That was fun! Love following you two around the world. You do such a fantastic job and I do really enjoy your sense of humor. I always finish off with a big smile. 😊
I dreamt of the Landau but the Coach is an experience of it's own. Thank you for making this sweet sojourn to enjoy! Cheers Ollie and Stephanie!
"The Pope's Rhinoceros" by Lawrence Norfolk is a work of historical fiction about a Portuguese ship that sank off the coast of Italy in 1516. A rhinoceros that was to be delivered to the Pope was onboard. The author delves into the stories that led to this event.
Steph and Ollie at their best, relaxed, informative and good fun.
Bon voyage Stepanie and Ollie. Beautiful city - food looks very enticing. Thank you - see you next week.
I'll binge all your Lisbon and Porto videos a few times over the next year. This past week, I booked a New Year's trip for myself and my oldest daughter to both cities. Can't wait and thanks for taking us along.
Every time Stephanie said Lisbon. I heard the word Lisburn, Meybe she was subliminally channaling her Irish ancestor . Non the less another beautiful Vlog by Steph and Ollie full of tasty treats ,historical stories and visual vistas. A feast for all the senses. Thank You both.
Your narration is so slick . Honestly, you make it look so easy. Very interesting background . Love the spatterings of humour too. Thank you
Portugal is such a beautiful country. I loved Lisbon so it was fun to see all the various places again. Thank you both so much for sharing.
I have to say that when I was in Portugal I was totally addicted to those pastries, I understand....lol!! Wonderful tour you two....thank you!!
God love the individual that had to ‘time manage’ Stephanie 😉❤️
Just a word of caution on the pasteis...beware of tarts hot out of the oven. The custard is absolutely volcanic and it will do real damage! 🔥
Ollie I wish you had been my history teacher, sorry Mr Hill 😂😂😂
How thrilling to discover Garum! It's the first I've heard of it and if I'm ever in Lisbon I will be sure to check it out!
That was a great trip! Thanks for showing us the sights and tasty foods. Yum 😋 Stephanie we love your history narrative, it really enhances the visit. Ollie you’re charming as always and your love of sweet treats always makes us smile. We’ll be in Lisbon this May and maybe we’ll bump into you in Barcelona. That’d be fun. Cheers 🥂 Frank and James
I love Lisbon, and it was so nice to relive some memories by watching this. Also, I learned and saw new things too. Thank you! You do such a great job!
Such a fabulous video , seeing the Arena of where they had the horse events and Carriages and tack was just so interesting . A must place to visit that Country . ❤❤
Absolutely loved this! Thanks for taking us along! I so much enjoy your history lessons! Everything was SO interesting! 🍸🥐🥠❤
The pasteis de Bacalhau at Belem are also amazing! Delicious! Loved this visit to Lisbon. Must go back! ❤
you are the best traveling guides for history, art and food in Lisboa. we definitely follow your path when we go there. thank you for your knowledge, effort, passion and taste! Thank you for that
I was recently taught how to make my own garum. I use it in a lot of recipe's.
A wonderful tour of a gorgeous city. Next time, be sure to see the tile museum and the art museum with the Namban folding gold screens created when Portuguese explorers landed in Japan in the 16th century!!
Great sites, great history stories and great music! I thoroughly enjoyed this trip.
What a magnificent riding arena! I'd have loved to ride in there, that's for sure. I tried the custard tarts in 2016 when I briefly visited Porto. They are every bit as scrumptious as Ollie claims. Oooh, that food market looks excellent if I do say so myself
This was a wonderful video. Just loved all you shared. The running arena was amazing
You two sure packed a lot into your 1 day in Lisbon. Lisbon looks so amazing. Lots of history, culture and great food. Thanks for sharing. 🙂🇨🇦
Continued exemplary Historical information! Great, nouveau sunglasses Stephanie!
The music in this episode was spectacular. Thank you for taking us with you. ❤
I’m sooo glad you’ve enjoyed my city!! 😍 If you go up the arch of Rua Augusta, you’ll have an even more stunning view of Lisbon than the one up the lift of Santa Justa. You’ll have a full view of Terreiro do Paço and the river ❤ Hope you come back to discover other beauties of Lisbon ☺️
Love Lisbon!
Two years ago I left Edinburgh with 10° c and arrived in Lisbonne with 30°c ! Same day, amazing. I spent a lovely day and deliscious lunch in the flea market and bought some old tiles. Sadly so much of Lisbonne is derelect and the buildings even in the center are in terrible condition if you look up as you walk around the city. There is also a lovely little botanical park.
Do go to Lisbon it's gorgeous, but visit the Alfama district, the old Moorish quarter. There's a beautiful old botanic garden in Belem.
As a foodie I am now on the search for Garum!!
I love these vlogs, but I would love tagging along. You two really should be travel guides.
LOL! 'Sleep-drive'...terrifying!
Even the Lipizzaner accommodations and presentation arena at Vienna's Spanish Riding School isn't as ornate as that 'coach museum.'
They do wonderful things with sardines in Portugal!
What a fabulous trip to Lisbon! I definitely would love to go!
Thank you for inspiring me for a Lisbon revisit, particularly appreciated during the grey winter months
I love Lisbon! And the pastel de nata 😋😋😋
I used to live near the marina where you stayed in the houseboat. Great location, and a lot of fun things to do there, too. Pastéis de Belém tip: the biggest line is always for the take-away or ordering at the counter. Getting a table is actually pretty quick, even during peak season. And not only will you get a nice place to sit, your Pastéis de Belém will still be slightly warm, with easy access to powdered sugar and cinnamon.
That was a excellent tour! You two are so funny together!
Gorgeous video! Thank you, Ollie and Stephanie!!!❤
Fabulous! I enjoyed every minute of it Thank you xx
This was delightful! I loved every minute!
Hello Ollie and Stephanie. I’ve just had a chance to watch this vlog and I’ve loved it so very much. I’ll never get the chance to visit all these beautiful places in life so I thank you for sharing your journey. What a beautiful place Lisbon is and for the history behind the country. The food looked so good. I love a good time of sardines but. O one in my immediate family does. Will look forward to your next destination. ❤❤❤
If you want to know more about Garum, you should check out "Tasting History with Max Miller". It's been a bit of a mission for him to learn about Garum and he even made his own batch (takes months of fermenting!). His channel is a fantastic history resource in general!

I was going to mention Max as well. He'd love the tasting set of garums!
🌟🇧🇷 The music playing while you were at the Porcelain Vista Alegre , is actually in Portuguese from Brasil …😉🤫
I'm late to the journey but thank goodness there isn't a time limit on following this channel. This was really great. I like the way you choose the sites-- you never try to "cover" the whole place but we get to spend time in real places that express the city -- porcelain and custard can be as expressive as a historic monument; more expressive.
Garum fish sauces, how exciting!!! Bon Appetit!!!
Those carriages were gorgeous
Ai Weiwei has a huge gallery and expo in Lisbonne along the sea front.
Le Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga de Lisbonne has the most incredible collection of religious tryptiques of astounding quality. They also have a whole wall of porcelain coffee cups and saucers each in a niche.
I absolutely LOVE watching this channel!❤
Been to Lisbon , at the end of the last century , but never saw that Carriage Museum what a pleasure ! I just love touring with you both such fun , tasting new flavours was always our thing , so love watching you eat with such relish and dare I suggest , abandon !
This was amazing. Thank you for taking us along.
You two are just brilliant! So entertaining, thanks for sharing.

those custard tarts need to come to my house!!
I love these vlogs! Keep up the good work. Your knowledge on each place and its curiosities is fantastic.
Amazing tour of Lisbon!
Oliver, to help you with you learning, two quick tips: in portuguese, J is pronounced as G, and C just as C, no tonge between the teeth.
This is one of the best channels 😊
I had never heard of Garum before. Thanks 😊!!!
What a delightful day out! 🌺
Just wow, this was quite the delight, thank you. I was lucky enough to try those custard tarts this year in Madeira …. Such a fond memory & I’m salivating watching you eat them, hahaha Till your next adventure🥂
The food looks amazing 🤩
Your german is really good! And yes, we complain about the weather all the time =D Nörgeln ist Volkssport!
Oh how I wish you both had been with me when I visited this area a couple of times and shown me the Food Hall. What an amazing place. I was too busy learning and looking at all the history of the area which you explained far better than the Guides we had
Great episode! Love hearing about the history of places
Lovely to see you both again, and to follow you on another of your wonderful TwMF.
So happy to have travels back! Love you guys! I always learn fun historical facts ❤
Absolutely beautiful!
I wonder if the Garum has a similar flavor profile to Worcestershire sauce? I love Worcestershire.
That earthquake also caused a tidal surge and destroyed hundreds of settlements on the West Coast of Ireland
Its fabulous to see you both again
It's great to see you back!!!
That was lovely, and fun
I love your vlogs. This one I really enjoyed. Bravo.❤
Great pacing at both beginning and end. Loved it
Tasting History Channel has a great episode on Garum that you both might enjoy. Oh that porcelain is stunning.
Loved this Vlog (& all your Travels vlogs). Think it’s a great shame those beautiful coaches were so dusty, they looked positively forlorn & neglected. They need a professional cleaning, & restoration, to bring them back to their gilded, shiny best.
Another great video!! ❤
What a stunning horse arena and horse carriages
Philip would be stunning in an old British red uniform even, or any uniform of yesteryear Stephanie. Lisbon is amazing! Thank you both for the tour of Portugal.
