A lot of modern games try to gravitate towards more "dark" hyper realistic visuals and I never found them appealing to begin with. Games like the Mana series will always be timeless, because their aesthetics are far more vibrant, whimsical, and elegant. They're just really pretty to look at and I'm glad Square hasn't forgotten about it with this new entry.

Oh my god MANTIS ANT!! I've come here to nerd out with all my fellow SOM fans. I only just recently came back from Japan where I purchased a boxed copy of Secret Of Mana for the SNES and was flicking through the instruction book the other night and felt some serious nostalgia. Then now this has popped up! I haven't played the remake, but watched a bit, but doesn't seem for me, I did play trails of mana on the switch (not the new version, but kind of like a port of the old unreleased version) and would really recommend this to anyone that hasn't played it and loves SOM, it takes the formula and expands on it, makes you think of what they stripped out of the original Mana game and what we missed. I think it's excellent, you never think playing an older game that you didn't grow up playing wouldn't be that amazing as it doesn't have the exact nostalgia but Trials of Mana definitely hits differently. This visions game looks interesting nice to see rabites, mushbooms and even the Mana Tree! Hope it does well and will definitely be looking into this. Now if you'll excuse me I have some SOM soundtracks to go and listen to. I recommend the SOM medley by Sarah on youtube! Enjoy my fellow Mana nerds!

Agreed; Trials of Mana remake was really fun for the fans, but it showed its low budget flaws. (Still I love it). I do hope the AI team in this one will be on par so that the controls and flow will be smooth and feel natural. And although I love the series, Imo All mana games had some sort of flaw in the battle system that killed the flow a bit. That said the world and the design is really nice. Clearly they used HACCAN as the artist (very bright and colorful art style), who does a lot of nods to the original artist/designs of the series as well. Imo I hope it most feels like Legend of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3. (indeed those are my faves)

I chose 6 as my favorite number all because of that as well, when we had to pick in middle school. I never dreamed we'd see an official Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana localization, and an excellent remake as well. I am so excited for this I'm almost numb, which doesn't make sense but I really hope this does very well! I'd love for ports of the older games to continue (Adventures of Mana is an amazingly faithful remake of the first game and deserves to be ported to more platforms), but this is astounding beyond what I'd have expected. @@7F0X7 Hard to say. There's an element of freedom to the game, the OST is amazing and the graphics were amazing for their time. I wouldn't recommend playing it on a newer type of TV. Even the remaster doesn't look right since they updated the sprites only. Gameplay is a little slow, at least in combat. There is heaps to do if you don't just follow the main story right to the Mana Tree. You can customize and make basically everything you use in the game how you like. I'd say for a lot of us, nostalgia plays a part but it's still one of the best in the Mana series.
