    Thinking about buying a smart car as I’ve learned manual but hate it, and I also hate parking. Don’t get along with my little manual car at all. This review was actually nice to watch someone drive it to see what the experience is like.

    After only finding negative reviews about this car, this is a breath of fresh air. I like your style of letting us drive with you... instead of having to watch the reviewer talking. I've driven many Smarts with Car2go. I think they're great and slightly underestimated, especially in N.America.

    Just come across yr video afte browsing through so many but never really explaining what needs to be explained and shown with a Smart. I love these cars for their quirkiness, economy and simpleness of a vehicle. I find all of todays cars too computerised with things that you do not really need and hardly ever use anyway..Enjoyed this drive thank you!

    The older I get the more this car appeals to me. If I could make the passenger seat dog proof, it would probably be perfect. Whenever the time comes to switch car, this will probably be at the top of my list.

    Very good review . These smart are very good value for money they are inexpensive to look after and give a great fuel return I’ve recently bought this model for my wife to learn to drive in and she has fallen in love with the car as I have also and a week after a good friend of mine went out and bought one also these are a quirky funky little car with huge space within for two adults to be comfortable there are a few negatives but I’m sure anyone going out to buy one of these or considering to buy one will know of the gearbox not being the smoothest gear change but apart from that which you get use to very quickly as we have done these are a terrific car fur running around in and not to bad on the motorway also although I would expect a long journey to be a little tiring after a few hours of driving . If your thinking of getting a smart car go and get one and enjoy it’s fun ride great looks and the money left in your pocket will always put a smile on your face

    Thanks very much for the vid; just purchased the 2014 version of this and picking it up tomorrow; useful tip on the accelerator as that was the one thing i was unsure of as the gear chance can be alittle bumpy; i'm 6ft 4 and still have loads of head and leg room, dont need the seat right back; infact had to move it forward, looking forward to my first real runout in a SMART, thanks again

And sometime when yu stop at traffic it seem like the engine wanna stall as of moving a car with third gear. Is that normal with this cars?

    I'd go for the normally aspirated 1.0 non-MHD Mitsubishi engine it'll be the most reliable IMHO. Test drove a 7 year old car with 0.8 Turbo Diesel with only 9,000 on the clock and it was smoking! Mileage not a good guide. Turbos seem to make engines more fragile but also hear the MHD models have problems with V-belts snapping too!

    Smart designed the car that you do not let your foot off the accelerator for gearchanges. The gearbox does this automatically when it performs a shift.

  • @BarrieCrampton

    @BarrieCrampton

    Жыл бұрын

    by letting your foot off gently you can promote a gear change when you want it to, not when the car thinks it should, I have had many Smart Cars and found this the best way to achieve the smoothest gear change

    it is noticable when you drive it hared but with a bit of practice and learning when and how far to take your foot off the accelerator, you can make the gears change when you want them to, and smoother than they would if you just kept the accelerator down

    Hi Barrie, i can buy fully serviced 2007 1.0i non-Turbo non-MHD semiautomatic (without "automaticmode switch") with paddles. Please explain me, I hear rummor about function of this semigearbox. I only need shift up and if RPM goes down too much gearbox automaticly shift on lower gear - is that truth or not. Thank you for your video, i really need Smart because find a parking space for my Saab become harder and harder :/

  • @dsofe4879

    @dsofe4879

    3 жыл бұрын

    That's correct. The softtip gearbox will shift down automatically below a certain rpm threshold. It will also shift up automatically before you hit the limiter. It's really just a slightly different software from the fully automatic gearbox, which can be cheaply retrofitted btw, as it's just the gear lever and control unit that need to be changed.

    HI Jayden, the thing is that these videos are predominantly to help me sell my cars which is my main business. Research has shown that people like to see the person who is selling the car, and also they watch longer if there is a face in the video, the feedback I have had from my customers is also unanimous that the multiple camera angles is preferable, so I'm sorry but that is the way it has to be, I'm here to sell cars, and if I had to rely on my good looks to make a living I know I would struggle, Barrie

    The saddest thing of all in this "modern" society is that in none of the new vehicle models that are manufactured (especially those that are so practical, small and cheap) the automotive engineers and manufacturers at the time of projecting them; they do not take into account the concept of "universal design" or design for all people (which consists of conceiving and projecting from the origin, environments, processes, goods, products, services, objects, instruments..., in such a way that they can be used by all people, to the greatest extent possible). And I reflect on this because in the design of these small vehicles, the engineers have not thought in the slightest about enabling access and driving for people who use wheelchairs, despite being a considerable number of citizens worldwide, who by our own limitation and our difficulties in accessing public transport, we have a greater need for a vehicle to get around than those who walk without any difficulty.
