BIM is a collaborative process that incorporates the entire building life cycle. VDC is applied technology and process for construction.

Let me take a chance at it. Let me know what you think: BIM is where the design team works out the design of the building (clash detection, etc.) VDC is where the construction team works out the sequencing and logistics to efficiently deliver the construction by sequencing, managing change, and developing work arounds. What do you think? If this statement needs some tweaking, please help. Perhaps we can create the elevator speech for it on this thread?

The VDCs comes under the immersive technology part of BIM tools. Unlike BIM which comes with Technology, Process, and Strategic process, the VDC is just some of the technology. That is all.

While BIM integrates technology, processes, and strategic planning, VDC enhances design and construction with specific tools. Which VDC technologies have you found most effective in your projects?

This guy is a digital practice manager, but he can't tell the difference between VDC and Bim?

@@IntegratedBIM Hi.... Not if your an expert, in an interview.....you should have an issue.... for me...yes...I'd struggle.... I watched the vid... so I could find out the difference.... to no avail. I think VDC, is just are buzz words someone thought of... to help the management get a better idea of how the project is constructed. Some things can be difficult to visualise.... especially if the person is not in the industry. I meant no offense to the guy..... I was just let down.

I would define the difference as, VDC is a department while BIM is the tool VDC works with many departments, Architectural, Engineering, Coordination, Prefab, Operations, GC, Supers, Field Guys, etc... While BIM is made up of many different tools, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM360, Bluebeam, MSOffice etc... VDC Managers manage across these departments, while BIM Managers manage within the VDC Department focusing more on the tools and how they interact between these departments and the project, but there is a lot of crossover and it does take a team. This is only my perspective.
