The Large Intestine, at 4 inches in length, is actually shorter than the small intestine. It runs in nearly a straight line below the vertebrae and ends at the cloaca. Sometimes this section is referred to as the colon. The last of water reabsorption occurs in this organ creating and storing the undigested waste material that is eventually excreted through the Cloaca.
