I visited Kiev way back in 1991 before the Soviet Union fell. I saw the opera Prince Igor performed at the Kiev Opera House. It was the best part of my trip.

Wonderful dancing, I am so sad to think of the destruction going on in your country presently. I applaud your talent and your courage! May you soon be dancing free again.

This is heartbreaking. I used to watch this company a lot on KZread, never dreaming that such catastrophe could come near to them. The only consolation is finding out that the warriors still fight as well as they dance. God keep all the artistes of Ukraine safe until they can perform 🇺🇦 again.

Ukraine and Russian culture is very similar as they are both Eastern Slavic. Culturally speaking Russia would be more likely to preserve their traditions than the EU.

Yup, just ask Ukrainians how similar they are. I once used the term "The Ukraine" to a Ukrainian shortly after the fall of the USSR, and was promptly corrected. They did NOT want to even be known by the USSR term for their country, denoting it as a portion of the USSR. It's amazing to me how so many different nationalities seem to think they know more about Ukraine than Ukrainians. Typical Russian 'logic', that. That is the very definition of a fool. Colorado's comment was just nonsense. Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava! We in the US support your fight. I am sorry Ukraine borders Russia. I was speaking to a Russian from the Caucasus region this morning that was totally disgusted with Russia's attack on Ukraine. He and his family are Muslim and were being persecuted, and now he has US citizenship. When the FSB talked to him on his last return to Russia, he pointed out to them that every time he enters the US, the officials welcome him back, and that the Russian officials have never done that. Hi, I live in west Europe, and as a boy , when soviet union existed, it was more or less things like that we saw from SSR in tv . I, personally, was very fascinated by the culture, and I'm very happy to find out that its actually Ukrainian culture. I have discovered so many things about Ukraine the recent years, that I'm left with the impression : "it seems like all pleasant thing we saw from Soviet union really is Ukrainian"

Maybe you're somewhat mistaken? As modern Ukraine claims lots of Russian national cultural treasures to be their own. It's not more than stealing of something they never could have had. For example they're saying their country is older then Russia because Kiev (modern capital of Ukraine) was older than Moscow. The point that it became a separate country only 30 years ago and before that it was Rusdia in all it varieties doesn't count at all. It's just misleading in modern thinking. Evaluate your knowledge.

Ансамбль Вирского один из лучших в мире .. имела честь выступать в сборном правительственном концерте вместе с Ансамблем Моисеева, Березка, Гос. Ансамбль Грузии Сухишвили, Ансамбль Жок Молдавии в 70-ых по 80-ми десятые… дружили общались радовались успехами всех творческих коллективов…. Сердце болит за Украину.. Стоп войне и горю людей!

It's difficult everyday I tried to think positive about things and get my mind off of things by going out in the community helping out but just get very difficult it causes a lot of sleepless nights. I had post-traumatic stress syndrome and some of the things happening triggers me off.

My love and support goes to Ukrania! My grandmother (on my mother's side) was born in Odessa; she died at the age of 103. And I also have Moldova in my heart!!!!! My grandfather (on my father's side) was born in Kishinev (now Chisinau) and lived through the pogroms at the beginning of the 20th Century. He emigrated to Chile, where I was born, and taught me Russian folk dancing!!!!!!!

Fantastic! Ukrainian dance is one of my favourites. I particularly like the male dancing - very masculine without being macho. Of course the war gives it all much greater poignancy and emotion.

In the 1980s a Ukrainian folk dance ensemble came to New York and I saw them in Carnegie Hall. They were wonderful, just as you see here. I realize from the strength of the male dancers that they are now working to saving their country, Ukraine, from the Russian invaders.

it is absolutely incredible that the world stands by while an entire country is being slaughtered by a madman!! Look at the life in these people; their joy jumps out to me and I just want to be able to do something that helps them directly, short of hopping on a plane and fighting with them shoulder to shoulder.

Ukraine hasn't been destroyed. It will prevail. Russia has tried to erase it many times over the centuries and they haven't succeeded yet. 🙂
