Virgin Atlantic VS900 London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita *Full Flight*

Sorry for the long delay in uploading this, this is the return journey of the previous video if you had watched it. Some details are instead of the A340-600, today was an A340-300 with the registration G-VFAR, "Molly". Taken from seat 63A VS900 departed for Tokyo on December the 29th. From the shaking camera during the rotation and the ailerons being raised, the takeoff was very turbulent, and I was being thrown about my seat due to the vigorous rudder action. The flight however was smooth, along with Virgin`s high standard service. After 12:15 minutes of being in the air, the A340-300 descended and once again, entered cloudy, damp air, and made a smooth "Airbus style" landing at Tokyo Narita International Airport. I was lucky as usual, to have the opportunity to enter the cockpit and take a few photos.
Overall the flight was really good (and the cheapest out of the 4 competitors flying this route!) and I definitely recommend Virgin Atlantic to all travelers bound to the UK, only criticism is Virgin`s A340-300 fleet still don`t have On Demand Entertainment....

Cheers for the comment mate! Believe it or not it was actually and iPhone 5 camera, at first I thought it would be pretty bad, but it was better than my other camera which was not HD so I thought I would give it a try, and the outcome was astonishing! If you have an iPhone (I think 4 and above, not sure about 3 and below) then do film your flights! Keep an eye out, Ill be making more in the next few months ;)

Thank you for posting this video of the Virgin Atlantic A340-300 from Heathrow to Tokyo. I took this same flight around 2001. We were extremely lucky to fly into Japan just as dawn was breaking, and enjoyed the truly iconic sight of Mt.Fuji breaking through a solid cloudbase. A memory that will stay with me forever. Rick

I do agree with that, although I think it only applies for the A340-300. Otherwise the 747-400s and A330-300s with their brand new product looks amazing! Not to mention the A340-600 had a competitive AVOD product ;) Cheers for watching

Skyteam does have some excellent service in all classes, I used to fly this route with KLM via Amsterdam. KLM has never failed to amaze me with high quality services, this year I just took Virgin Atlantic cause I was going to Heathrow and not Newcastle. Virgin Atlantic is excellent too, although its A340-300 specifically is rather poor. Haha, and I know what the Japanese tourists are like on planes, most of the times I've travelled, they don't care about me opening the shades ;) Thanks!

hey mate! i gotta know which camera did you use? that was one of the most perfect .sounds of an aeroplane when one actually travels. normally the sounds recorded by the camera eliminates most of the engine roars and the other important sounds...after watching this I truly felt like i was actually flying..great work mate keep it up..i look forward to more of such videos !!!!!

Thanks mate! Virgin Atlantic offer a great service, I really did enjoy it! And it depends on what you`re after on a plane, the only thing that made the -300 worse was the old cabin, the IFE system was not on demand so you couldn`t watch what you wanted at a specific time, but if you`re like me and have other things such as iphones, laptops etc then overall the flight was great! Hope you enjoy your stay in Japan, and if you intend on filming anything please do sharee;) ;)

But the thing that makes Heathrow more intense and tricky than Atlanta and stuff is that it only has 2 runways which run at 98% capacity unlike Atlanta which has 6 runways or so running at probably less than 50% capacity

  • @andyjay729

Isn't that the Great Circle Route anyway? I know going from America to northern Europe you often go over Greenland and Iceland. And flying from America's west coast to Japan (which I did last year), you go over the Aleutian Islands.

Of course, it does say in the description that it is an A340-300 ;) Not the first aircraft you would want to fly from Virgin compared to their 747s and A330s, sadly they`re not operated to Tokyo.

  • @HDTokyoAviation
    @HDTokyoAviation10 жыл бұрын

Honestly I don`t know why, I saw it coming up on the A340-600 but on the A340-300 the cabin crew performed the safety demonstration, I`m guessing its cause the -300 series has an older IFE system

I've flown direct to narita in a 777 and it is indeed a long flight. No different to seattle, buenos airies or hong kong. At least 99% of passengers were japanese which meant a quite and organised flight.

12:27 imagine how boss it would be to book out the entire first class Emirates A380 cabin - 14 of you - and when you land rather than take the jetbridge behind first class from the upper deck you all descend the plane's own interior staircase and go down the metal steps outside the front lower jetbridge instead, where this 14 seat Mitsukoshi Premium coach awaits you and your party to whisk you away from the madness in style & comfort. Quick customs passport check before you board and Look At That, all your first class hold luggage just happened to be stowed in the plane's bulk hold and is already aboard the coach. Some of your party delighted in sending their hand luggage down the metal slide thingy beside the metal airstairs, but yours is some custom leather thing that costs a year's normal people wages so you carried it down safe & sound, Thank You Very Much

I flew there 3 weeks ago with Alitalia via Milan with a flight from LHR. Paid just £378 return (777-200 11: hour 45 minute flight). You were brave opening your window to an early morning, I tried that and the passengers (99% of them japanese) looked at me in disgust. We landed at around 10:40 am tokyo local). Skyteam catering was good in economy with after take off drink (free alcohol) snack, 2 meals with another snack. Although our IFE screens were of similar size, it was AVOD.

Heathrow is their main hub which Gatwick is a secondary hub as with other main international airports. you rarely see BA flying into airports that cant land an 747 or A380 except at London city which mainly BA use A318s or A319s as they are the biggest jets that London city can handle.

  • @andrewsebastianrothgarnant350

keith russell BA uses SAAB 2000, ERJ170, ERJ190 and A318s into LCY (The A319 is not certified for LCY) And BA flies were the demand is, not how big the airport is... Many european airports that BA flies to does not see a B747 or A380 (either because they can´t land there or because the demand for such a big plane doesn´t exist). Just to mention a few DUS, HAM, GIB, CPH, ARN, DUB, NCL, EDI, GLA, OSL, BGO, PRG, ABZ, STR, RTM, HAJ, BHD, LIS, WAW, BUD, HEL, VCE, LBA, TXL, IBZ, PSA, LIN, BLQ, GOT, JTS, JMK and many more
