VIRAL SKINCARE TRENDS THAT ARE RUINING YOUR SKIN - An Esthetician Breaks It All Down For You

As an esthetician, and skincare influencer, I've seen far too many TERRIBLE SKINCARE TRENDS come and go. In this video, I talk about some of the worst ones: Black (or Pink, or glitter...) Peel-Off Masks, Amazon Skincare, Facial Spin Brushes, and "DIY" Professional At Home Treatments. Some are pointless, where some are downright dangerous, and putting yourself at serious risk.
After watching, repeat after me: "I, [name], will not do these terrible skincare trends in 2020!"

I would SO recommend it! being an esthetician was the best thing i’ve ever done. i went to Aveda and i would NOT recommend that school though! so if you’re thinking of going just research many esthi programs and do lots of tours :-)

    Well I have 4 Freeman peel-of masks that just came in this week. I have been using them for 25 years and hope I can stop using them. The sheet masks just irritates my skin. So what about clay masks or washing the peel-of mask of my face instead of ripping? Much love from the Netherlands all.

  • @OurEnemyScalion

    @OurEnemyScalion

    Born Again Christian clay masks can be okay- but most of the time it seems to be only in the short term. They’re very drying. If you’re looking to exfoliate, chemical exfoliants are way more gentle and way more effective. There are a few to choose from: lactic acidosis (one of the most gentle) all the way to glycolic acid (which is one of the strongest). The GoldenRx and hyram’s channel has helped immensely with providing information on how to exfoliate and cleanse the skin properly in order to provide long-term improvement and non-irritated skin

    @@OurEnemyScalion hi, I got the lactic acid 5% and some more products from the ordinary. But I also use my Freeman claymasks to relax with at the end of the week. I have been doing this for 20 yr now. As dr dray said these Freeman masks don't do much but it's not the devil.

    Kim Dingle it’s just preference on fragrance and added alcohol in the ingredients. Usually people who do makeup will have different opinions than people who focus on skincare. However, the alcohol and other drying ingredients in aftershave can really dry out skin and cause irritation and inflammation.

    I can’t thank you enough for your channel and knowledge. I was a witch hazel user for 5 years and never had any problems, or so I thought. Over the past year I noticed my skin was a total grease slick but I had dry patches as well. I tried mattifying lotions over my t zone and greasy lotions for my dry areas and it was just a frustrating mess. I finally decided to stop being hardheaded and listen to your recommendations. I ditched my harsh scrubs and switched to chemical exfoliants. I now layer the rose water toner you suggest after every step in my skin care routine. Hormonal acne scars that used to take months to heal are now completely gone in two weeks. I don’t wake up with dry patches and a greasy forehead anymore. I am amazed. My skin is glowing and I’m not even using every step you recommend yet (I’m still looking for an spf I like please don’t kill me!) Y’all PLEASE listen to this woman. Yes everyone’s skin is different but STOP saying your skin is fine because you don’t *see* any of the damage shes talking about. Trust me it’s there but it’s not too late to fix your skin!

    I am sitting here almost crying at the damage I have done to my skin. I had combination skin and no blemishes now I have dry skin and scars and clogged pores and it was caused from trying different products and I'm sure I am allergic to the foundation I bought 2 days ago because now my skin is so dry and crusting under my eyes and side of my nose. I will have to go to halifax to find a Dr that can help with my skin. The at home peel or exfoliating jobs and d.i y skin care has caused more problems I feel since I had no problems until I started trying these trends last few years.

  • @carinaelizabethpaul9785

    @carinaelizabethpaul9785

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@hellno6617 the chemical exfoliating has helped with removing dead skin and unclog my pores just don't use them everyday. The diy skin care I believe ruined my skin barrier like lemon juice, baking soda,and peel off masks with glue and charcoal, or dermaplaning with out the right tools. Picking the skin with those tools and not knowing how to properly do them. I kept trying different things to fix my issues causing more problems. Using coconut oils is what I used to remove my makeup and that caused clogged pores then I used products from amazon and it was not even in English trying the 10 step Korean skincare. I ruined my skin barrier and it took 2 years to get back to normal by stopping the masks, trying different products too much, ripping my skin with peel off mask or clay masks and trying different foundations and baking soda. I just use clean and clear soap, jojoba oil to remove makeup when I get home right away,or just go without makeup and argan oil or emu oil and neutrogena retinol oil as a moisturizer. And a physical exfoliating puff every few days with the clean and clear soap and a spf lotion and my skin is back to normal with the dark spot getting smaller glycolic acid toner has helped also pixi glow tonic but I don't have anymore so the retinol oil has been in its place. I need to see a professional to get my skin back to normal.

    Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I started using the #60secondrule a year ago and I rarely breakout now. Before I thought I had chronic acne. And I switched witch hazel for rose water toner a few weeks ago. My face looks and feels glowy for 13+ hours a day. In the past I’d be dry & crusty by lunch. Appreciate you ❤️

    🥰🥰🥰 Thanks a lot!!!! I’ve grown up feeling blessed with great skin but since my 30th I’ve noticed blemishes, my pores getting visible, and more of the once in a blue moon pimple breakouts. You’re 60 seconds rule really helped a lot! I’m only using the same Olay products and I’m seeing my pored shrinking 🤩🤩🤩!!!

    There's hardly any difference in male and female skin care to be honest, well except for beards and moustaches. People just put stereotypes on skin care routines and processes making males feel certain skin care steps should be excluded from their routine when that shouldn't be so. Skin is skin despite your gender. There is nothing wrong with going all in on doing skin care. Let people think whatever. Just follow the right steps, learn your skin, fall in love with caring for your skin and you'll be glowing. Men deserve to take care of their skin without being judged. So my advice to you is to stop thinking there's a specific skin care for men because there really isn't. If you go to a professional you'd get almost the same process. The only variants are skin type, skin sensitivity, allergies and beards/moustaches which in some cases also receive good attention. So just look for a routine based on your skin's needs and not your gender because male skin deserves the same amount of care as a female would require. 💛

    Okay, I just wanted to say thank you for this channel because I’ve been using some of your recommendations and my skin feels and looks way better. I’ve only started doing your recommendations 3 dats ago. Just to give a little insight: I was using the spin brush for almost a month now. And I was getting those small bumps you talked about in your video. Stopped using it and they were gone within days. My problem area is my chin and I would always get those painful cystic (I believe that is the word for it) bumps that would take a little over a week to go away with my routine. I use your nighttime routine from one of your previous videos with the 60 second method and my skins look great. One huge bump that I had on my chin has all but gone away since I started this method 3 days ago. And Im not even using expensive products. All of them come from walmart and have never passed the price of more than $10. So thank you so much🤎
