The most expressive and clear communication from a violin teacher on the internet! Absolutely superb!
I just wish I could express to you how your tutorials are helping me. I am 52 and started violin lessons when I was 11. There were always things that didn't feel correct with my left hand, vibrato and bow arm. I studied under Eastman school of music graduates and still was not resolving some of my issues. Your method of breaking down left hand placement and the proper use of the bow arm has helped me more than my years of instruction. My teachers would say, "but you play beautifully". However, I could internally feel that something wasn't quite right and you have addressed my trouble areas. If I could give you a hug, I would. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me!!

@@ViolinClassUSA Thank you very much! I really decided to leave a comment asking about you but I was relieved once I saw your recent video! I said " Thank GOD :D"
Impressive! Most teachers they don’t teach this technique. Thank you very much.
Wonderful. I'm a violinist brought up with Sammons and Fischer and I really like your instructional videos
Very useful exercises, good to see you back Professor !
Welcome back professor - as an adult beginner I find your insights invaluable. If you have any exercises that compensate for double-jointed pinkie finger locking during bowing they would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much for your posts - they help my learning far more than anything else I have access to.
so proud kak clarissa ❤️❤️
I find your lessons very helpful indeed. It has helped me in my practice and I am sure my sound has really improved after trying and getting the feel of the exercises so muscles are moving along the right “rails “without tension. THANK YOU

Glad it was helpful!
Great video.
Useful tips, thanks :-)
I just thought of applying this to Twinkle variation E from Suzuki book 1
Wonderful class... Intonation on long notes improved immediately. Though still have the wispies up on highest part of bow.
Can we use metronome and start with slow tempo in this bow exercise?

That's funny! I do the same exercise with my students!

That is fantastic! The more of us do it properly, the better!
Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this exercise and how do we apply it in a piece?

The purpose is to know the bow (as the title says). What every part of the hand/arm/each finger do in each small section of the bow is most important for musical expression. You cannot utilize the bow at 100% if you do not know how you work in every inch/centimeter of it.
