Hard to rest the violin in collar bone, it slips when i play

I've always played western classical music. That was surprising to see such difference comparing these two postures. Is it possible for me to play south indian music even if i've never tried that? Or maybe it takes much longer time to adapt...

The posture is just one small aspect, which in my opinion can be achieved fairly easily. Adapting to the music however is a whole different matter.

Ask for student quality violins in the music shop. The price range should be in between 6500/- to 9000/-.

Thank you for your explanation. I am trying to find a good posture of the violin by which I don not feel pain on my shoulder with the traditional classical violin posture. But I am wondering whether I can play high position of the violin with the Indian violin posture. Is it possible to play high position 8, 9, 10th of the violin with the Indian violin posture?

Hi, like your teaching method. Please let me know if there are any support stands for the scroll so that we can sit in a chair and play, specially for older people. The chin rests etc. are causing neck pain. Narayan

Sunadam . Thanks a lot for your tip . I improvised a guitar stand and I am able to play my violin sitting in a chair. No more neck pain. However the arm vibrato is more restricted. Thanks again. Narayan
