I mean the transformation from the 1971 film was creepy and disturbing enough but in this film they had to make it even more scarier and terrifying. This scene scarred me for life when I was a kid. The creators of this film did a fantastic job on those CGI effects though so I’ll give them credit for that! 👍

I found a theory as to why her clothes turned blue along with her: Violet is clearly very anxious, and when someone feels anxiety, it is normal for them to start sweating; however, because she is transforming into a fruit, the water stored in her body is being fused into juice, causing her to become drenched in juicy sweat. This could also explain why her clothes don't rip off as she starts growing, since they are now stuck to her body.

I know some people think Wonka is scary or sort of a villain, but I think it’s the complete opposite. All these kids were warned to each of their fates, but since they are all spoiled and bratty they didn’t listen and hopefully learned a life lesson. He told each one not to do the thing they did, and they fully deserved every outcome. The only child he liked from the beginning anyways was Charlie, because he could instantly tell he wasn’t like the other children.

It only *tastes* like a three course meal. In the end it’s still just a stick of gum; it wouldn’t give people the calories needed to actually satiate the body’s energy requirements. It could probably be used as a dieting technique, but it wouldn’t be able to completely take the place of real food.

The mom can’t blame Wonka for her daughter turning into a blueberry. He warned her not to chew the gum and told her to spit it out but she refused to listen, her own mother even encouraged her to ‘keep chewing’.

I 100 percent blame her mother. Violet’s mother expected her to always win (263 trophies, world record in chewing gum, telling Violet “Eyes on the prize,” etc.). Violet saw chewing gum as winning and like you said, her mother told her to keep chewing. When you have a parent that expects you to be perfect, it leads to self-destruct.

I love this film

This gum Willy Wonka made is a 3-course breakfast/lunch/dinner all by itself, the flavours can come in with waffles, tomato soup, risotto, blueberry pie, bitterballen (Dutch fish balls with Dutch flags stabbed on them), ratatouille, lobster bisque (French lobster oil soup), steak and kidney pie and almost everything in the world.

I love how she knows she’s turning blue but she keeps on chewing.

When Willy tells her to spit it out means he genuinely wanted her to stop what she was doing because he knew what the outcome would be. Even grandpa Joe knew that Wonka’s warning should be taken seriously. He worked for him and knew what his creations were capable of. Violet was just being an arrogant fool. On the bright side she did get more flexible.

I think I finally understand why she didnt spit out the gum. When she found out she was turning blue, she was obviously freaking out and was stressed. And because she was stressed she started chewing the gum faster and didnt think about spitting it out because she was freaking out

Wonka and other said for her to spit out BEFORE she started turning blue. I think her transformation could happened so fast tho because she is a "profissional" in chewing gum

It could be she was falling back on her training - when in doubt, keep going. But even if she wanted to spit it out, by the time her face inflated her lips were stuck shut & it was too late.

In Chemistry, pH is a scale used to specify the acidity and basicity of an aqueous solution. An average human pH level is between 7.35 to 7.45, which is neutral. Blueberries in the other hand is 3.1 to 3.4 which is acidic, but not low enough to the most acidic fruit lemon. If a blueberry has become juice, it became more acidic and the pH level of blueberry juice is 2.9 to 2.5. After Violet become a Blueberry, she has become a 12 feet diameter filled with acidic juice.

The really sad part about the entire story of Charlie and the chocalate factory is really the children are products of overbearing or irresponsible parents, and yet only the children are punished, well excluding Verucas dad.

I guess one could argue through the pain of the child, the parents get punished in a way. These parents do care about their children to some degree or another, and watching them in pain would bring the parents pain. But I think the deeper message here is how the parents are taught their lesson, and what exactly the lesson for them is. Nothing would show them better what they turned their child into, then literally seeing their child turn into it. For instance Violet’s mother forced her child into being a champion with no humbleness and encouraged her bad chewing habits. But the Mother didn’t see the how those immoral values affected her daughter until it was too late. Yes, it’s sad that it happened to the kid but ironically the Mother let this happen to her kid in a sense. And now the mother has to pay mentally and emotionally for allowing her child to turn out that way. Maybe her next child will be raised with better values and say no to temptation

@@assassin11-fpc67 the punishment was that her golden goose, I mean her daughter, is permanently blue. Awards, trophies, and accomplishments will mean very little because of the abnormal color

I couldn't eat blueberries as a child because i was afraid of swelling up like a balloon.
