Easily one of the most underrated bands of the 80s and 90s. IMO no 80s playlist is complete without some Femmes and Boingo.

This song just hits right. Everything the Femmes do better than anyone. One happy, sad, dark perfect blend.

Curious why Victor DeLorenzo isn't in this video? Was it made in 1993, after he left the band, even though it comes from an album that was released in 1986?

We didn't have the word Nonbinary. We had the Violent Femmes. We had David Bowie, Joan Jett, and Annie Lennox singing Sweet Dreams. It's only in my midlife that I have managed to pull back that shadow and be in that bittersweet remembering. Pluto has me picking scabs again, but this time I have joy too.

You can find this version on the Greatest Hits package “Add It Up 1981-1993”. I agree, this version is much cooler than the one released on “The Blind Leading the Naked”.

Sweet. This video was on KZread before, but it was super shitty quality. Not a great video either way, unfortunately. But it's one of my favorite songs from VF. It was written for a movie that never got made, I believe. Funny because it sounds like a song made for a movie. You could almost think a modern AI made it today based on the 80s Femmes style if they hadn't done it in the 80s.
