VIOFO A229 Pro Dual Channel | Unboxing | Full installation | Operation and Review - Episode 1

Welcome to our brand new Wednesday episode, that’s right every second Wednesday for the next 10 weeks we are putting out a video on either VAN LIFE TIPS & TRICKS and of course PRODUCT REVIEWS.
We are kicking off our first SPECIAL EPISODE with a review of our brand new VIOFO A229 Pro Dash Cam. Having an excellent quality dash cam is an absolute essential no matter what type of traveller you are, from the person commuting to and from work everyday, heading away for a weekend or full time travellers like us. It provides peace of mind and video evidence of those sticky situations behind the wheel.
The VIOFO A229 Pro is a brilliant dash cam that shoots in 4K ULTRA HD, it’s fitted out with Sony STARVIS 2 image sensors, it’s has built in WiFi and a 2.4” HD screen and that’s only the beginning.
In today’s video we review the VIOFO A229 Pro Dual Channel unit, we start out unboxing the unit followed by a full installation for both hard wiring and via the supplied 12v cig socket lead. I show you the VIOFO app and how to safe ( lock) your recorded videos on the go via the remote control. Then we take the A229 Pro for a test drive to show you the high quality video it captures.
This is by far the smartest and easiest dash cam we’ve ever owned and we highly recommend it.
The VIOFO A229 Pro is available in two different bundles, the Dual Channel like we reviewed in todays video and the 3 channel unit that includes everything you saw in todays video PLUS a REARVIEW CAMERA.

Great video thank you. I do have some questions... I must be missing something...why would you need the inside camera? What benefit would you gain from that....unless of course the thief does get in and steals it and then takes his/her mask off and it's recording their crimes. I guess it might be useful of it was focused on the dash board so you can show your insurance that you had your indicators/lights on in the manner you say they were - in your statement to police (they might be damaged in a acco. and then you have trouble proving you had indicated correctly your intentions - rather than trying to justify your actions)! But where would you mount it to provide that POV? Can you mount the inside camera on the side windows looking out to record things coming past you, and can you pick up a 2nd unit to cover the other side of the car for the same reason. I think this would be good for those who tow, in the absence of a rear view camera. Have you tested how accurate the GPS is compared with your phone as some have substantial lag? Can the software for the unit be updated? This feature might be good as technology advances - the inside POV camera might then allow for "driver monitoring" systems to be utilised in future. It is important to remember that any data recorded can also be used against you in a court of law should it show your negligence or omission of an act that would normally stop an accident - such as not using indicators in a timely manner, cutting someone off, etc.

Hi mate, thank you and I think you’ve made some really valid points. The interior camera that I fitted during the episode works perfectly for us from a KZread perspective as it allows us another POV in the car. I think the interior camera would be perfectly suited to taxi & Uber drivers, professional truck drivers and other people who conduct business in their car/ truck as it provides them with a security camera. Where I mounted the camera during the video was to best suit our needs but it comes with a metre of lead so it could be mounted in other areas and the camera is able to rotate to the desired angle for the user. I hope I’ve better explained it for you. cheers Steve 🤓

@@trip42australia Ah yes. Taxi's and Uber's, of course. I was struggling to think of a usage that would require an indoor camera.. I'm glad you got something out of my comments, thanks Steve. I was thinking of having it pointed to the side rear view mirrors so that it could capture whether overtaking traffic uses their indicators and their overtaking procedure as it happens. But I guess that POV would be a fiddly fix to obtain. All the best on your travels. Don't forget to update us on the medical condition. Cheers.
