Vintage Wooden Level Restoration
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project! I found this vintage wood level at flea market and bought for USD $1. For the first look the level had some troubles with old paint, some rusty at steel cover and dirty too. Restoration process: I used tool for paint removal to removed old paint from level. After I used sandpaper to remove some kind of paint and grease stain from level. To remove some rust from cover and screws too, I used rust remover liquid. Before I was started paint of wooden level I used primer and then paint it. Then polished cover and screws too. To keep the capsule level, I used an epoxy putty. I hope you will enjoy this restoration video. P.s. It's first work with level restorations. Thank you!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

CCCP ! Very nice restoration!
BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!!! brand new level.
This is the second level restoration I have watched recently. I don't understand why you wouldn't seat the vial on the putty while the level is sat on top of a known good level so you can calibrate the glass perfectly. It just looks a bit like guesswork the way you have done it.
my favourite Russian restorer never dissapoints!
Love vintage tools. You give new life. Like. 📏📐
Just amazing, as usual! You rock!
Красава👍
Amazing and interesting work ny friend! It's something new in your collection. Keep going! 👍❤
awesome restore, you do such great work love you mate ,keep then videos comming hugs
Good as always, but have you calibrated it with another one..or perhaps you not gonna use it in your work. Best regards from Sweden!
Its good to start the morning with one of your videos! And the restoration was perfect!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You call it stupidity, i call it creativity! Old to Gold!
An interesting restoration for a simple tool. If there wasn't a chip taken out, would you have used a stain instead of paint? Looks shiny ✨️new✨️ 👍
Nice work, I have a few in my collection also.
Really amazing work, I love the attention to detail.
du machst immer was Tolles, ich bin so begeistert
Good job. Not stupidity, mistake. And, your english is improving well. Keep up the good work.
It looks amazing 👍🏻
One thing that you must remember is this, Not All Mistakes Are A Screw-up. It turned out great, and you learned something. None of us are perfect. Keep it going. Learn from some of the comments. Disregard those that are negative. Perhaps they should try using ''Constructive Criticism'' . You are doing well, my friend. I enjoy your eagerness. Keep it coming.

It looks like a chocolate bar so shiny and brown
Amazing 👍
Это уже гораздо круче,чем было когда ты начинал
Chocolate bar level! Looks good!
Great job.

Very nice job 👍
The white paint you took off the bubble is for contrast to help see the bubble better in lower light conditions, otherwise, good job.
Nice job.
Me a gustado mucho el antiguo nivel de albañil, muy buena restauración lo devolviste a la vida de nuevo, un saludo
Жаль точной даты производства нет. А так👍🏻
Good restoration mate. Love your work. I wouldn’t worry about not pressing the record button. I do that all the time. Love old levels and yours was beautiful. 🇦🇺👍

I am from Georgia. Tbilisi is my city. And how it came up is interesting.
Hello from Tbilisi 👌
Hahaha, that was a great test time!! XDD. Excellent video!!!
Question here! It is still good for use of this is more for collection?
табачная фабрика - tobacco factory
next time you have to fill in the wood, try the wood dust and glue or epoxy, as that's what a lot of people do, including my grandfather did.

Hello sir, yes I do same way, but at this case I made decision to used hard putty.
In such levels, you see a bubble of air not through an ampoule, but in reflected light. For better visibility, the level manufacturer painted half of the ampoule along with white paint. You washed off the white paint but forgot to paint again. Initially, the metal bar was probably nickel-plated to protect it from corrosion, it would be nice to restore it. PS: The inscription on the metal bar: (factory) "FIZPRIBOR" (PHYSICAL DEVICE) (city) Kirov The inscription on paper: Tobacco factory number 2 in Tbilisi (Georgia). Someone put this piece of cigarette box during a long-standing repair.
Like a boss :-)
Craftsman!!
Good looking restoration, but l had the same question as David Lowe , did we miss the calibration process?
You should get yourself one of those balloon sanding drums.
Did you think that the paint on the bottom would have upset the balance?

With all respect, why did y paint the wooden holder? A clear protection laquer wud look much btr. Anyhow, great restoration anyhow. Cheers fm Achim, Singapore+

Hello sir, thank you for attention. I painted it because the previous paint was brown too.

@@ScrewsAndTools Understand, but wood imo looks btr being natural. When painted it cant be seen. A small matter...
wow.... a vintage georgian level .... really, do you consider sell your restorations?
If that is plaster that is helping to hold the vials, then perhaps you could try to use vinegar to dissolve it.
Так это уже не уровень , а просто экспонат ! So this is not a level, but simply an exhibit!
Зачёт, но почему вы не обработали нижнюю честь. Ведь она будет больше контактировать с рабочей поверхностью? И посередине между колбой с жидкостью и мелалической пластиной осталась щель. Ведь в неё будет попадать мусор. А так лайк.

@@axelwulf6220 Crick levels makes wooden ones. They are expensive though. I use the non-magnetic Stabila myself.

You can soak wood in thinner overnight and all and I mean ALL the oil and paint will literally fall off and be laying around it in the bucket the next day, wood will have a whiteish appearance. I do gun stocks that way.

Thank you for advice sir.
I think you need a better screwdriver, it was painful watching you use that blunt old thing. Could have calibrated the spirit level against a new one also. Good vid though, thanks.
Źle, muszę być pod rurą białe albo inny kolor, światły , plus drewno lakierem trzeba , no kto tak robi.. zrobić paź pod metalowe część.. no niema słów..
