He cant possibly destroy all of them. The more videos he makes, the less likely they are to blow up a market. Plus it usually takes more than one video to over inflate a cars price. There were tons of vids on the 944 before it blew up.
Your last statement is 100% truth. I'm always asked "what would be a good car to restore?" and I tell them "The car you absolutely love, because they all cost money in the end"

not quite right, it stands for Standard. In W for Winter, it starts in second Gear, shifts earlyer and downshifts with lower rpm to prevent slippage. Thats all.

I had one in the 90s. For months it would drive "normal" in D until one day at a light I stepped onto the gaspedal hard, doing a kick-down. Suddenly there was a super-short gear for just a moment before the normal gear which completely surprised me. There seems to be a very short gear for when the car is loaded to the brim going uphill. So the every day drive would actually start in second gear and shift up.
@philen

@@PrimoStracciatella they always drive on the first gear but shifts to 2nd as soon as it gets moving and is never noticed. If the kickdown is actuated or Last is used it revs it out longer. (Last meaning load, as if the car is heavily loaded or hauling something)

When I grew up in the 60's every family had a station wagon. The ultimate test of a station wagon was "Can you put a sheet of 4ft x 8ft plywood flat in the back and close the tailgate?" Bonus for 3 or more sheets of 3/4 inch. My first car was a 69 Buick Skylark station wagon. We called it "The Golden Whale". Two sons learned to drive in it. I sold it with 210,000 miles on the original engine. These pre-71 oil crisis American cars were built like tanks with heavy gauge steel, body and bumpers.

To attest to the heavy gauge steel pre ‘71. I had a 1968 Ford Country Squire. I let one of my best friends drive it for a couple of weeks while his car was being repaired. Even after replacing all of the front end parts, it didn’t have the same feel as a modern rack and pinion car, and when the right front tire dipped off the shoulder of a local road, he overcorrected into an oak tree that didn’t budge. Car was totaled. He was alright. Two little kids in the back were alright. Right front fender was not. I was distraught. I could t believe how much d,age was done. To see how strong the steel was, I took my 28 ounce Estwing framing hammer and made an extremely strong overhand swing on to the top of the fender. It barely left a divot, but did leave the waffle pattern in the steel. Strong stuff indeed. I think my friend and the kids played down how much that collision hurt them. It hurts me to this day twenty years later. I loved that car.
Wow, this was a lot deeper than I expected. I appreciated how they went further than the car. That was proper especially when it comes to wagons
My mother had that exact Mercedes Wagon when we were growing up and we drove it ALL over the country in the '80s with my four other siblings. I can attest that the car is bullproof and built like a tank.
I'm not really a Japanese car guy, but Rebecca's wagon may have me second guessing that. I dig the wheel/tire mods on that car A LOT. That chandelier is kinda perfect also.

...this was never a 'regular, cheap' car, lol ...I'm the second owner of a 1985 300D saloon and I have the original invoice for $38,000! ...having said that it's been great value and I (rather my wife) treat it like a regular, cheap car! I can get x12 50lb sacks of horse feed in it, similarly bedding shavings, I can get x3 large bales of hay in the back ...yep it definitely wants to be a truck! Conversely, I maintain it myself and that's cheaper than getting a Mercedes mechanic to do it (even if he understands what he's looking at) - I should have got a shooting brake (wagon) but they attract a premium.

Wagons rock. Look at old racing videos and the support wagons with built motors, HD suspension, and wide wheels. Same size as a sedan but 2x as functional, and 2x as efficient as a bloated SUV. Good job Magnus!

But seriouslly it as 57 years of age ,and once i found a cabriolet version of the w115, but the owner admited that he had converted the car and re-enforced the floor of the car so with so much weight didn´t start to be shaped like a V
I have a soft spot for certain wagons and currently own a '95 w124 estate that's been in the family since 2000. Runs strong and is very reliable as long as you keep up the maintenance. This ones a keeper! Would love to add w123 to the garage but trying to find a rust free example is pretty hard to do for a reasonable price.
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a film about a cars, may I add - cars which bring joy to my eyes! Job well done 👍
Do you have the ability to read my mind...??? I find every car I love in this channel... thank you 😍😍😍

Magnus Walker rocks! Thanks Hagerty!
Had a beautiful 78 240d they really are great cars. Always admired the 300 for the .6 larger displacement and the extra cylinder. Turbo brings a whole different level of performance if you want to call it that.
Not what I was expecting, but that's what made it so good.
I had a '57 Chevy 210 4 door station wagon in the late 90s, because I was damned if I drove minivan. Good times, highly recommended. Fun video!
My first car was the non-turbo sedan of this model. It was a lot slower, a lot more loud and rumbly, but Ioved it so much. The electric windows and seat warmers worked after 30+ years! Only $600 for it.
Had a volvo 940 and my parents owned the 240, 740, 940, v50 but we missed out on the v70. Volvo 940 was one of my first cars, I would still love a 740 turbo wagon one day...
I love my 1987 300TD Wagon w124. I have had many w123’s love them all!
I have a 1978 Holden Premier station wagon as an everyday run around. Great cruiser.
The previous generations of breaks (or wagons) were produced in Mechelen (Belgium). These were converted Ponton and Heckflosse models (MB Universal).
Love the Cressida’s!!!
Both of those Cressida wagons are amazing. My family had a couple of Cressida sedans back in the 80s. We knew nothing about cars and drove both into the ground. 😢😁
Magnus Walker is a legend!
I've been a wagon guy and didn't know it. My first was a 63 nova wagon, rust free. Next 71 satellite 383 magnum 4spd pistol grip. All original muscle wagon. I miss it!
My other passionate vehicle is my 1964 Ford F250 pickup with a long bed. I purchased it from my Dad in 1980 when I graduated from high school.
Every single wagon here is excellent and the owners seem like awesome people (well, I know Ben is awesome already)
YES! - I am 100% a station wagon fan - what a perfect vehicle
Wagon's have always been on my list.
This winter ago there was a Cressida Wagon just like the blue one at the Santa Paula junkyard. Mesh wheels and all, very complete. Just sat there for 2 month, nobody pulled anything from it.

I have a W201 E55 AMG estate, they only made them for a couple of years and I don't think you got them in the US but if you can find one that hasn't gone rusty they are the last of the simple and reliable AMG cars I think and quite rare in estate car form.
I love this series and I like these people
Friend in the 90’s had a 5L V8 AMG wagon. That was fun!
Kinda funny, I’ve personally owned more muscle cars and 4x4 trucks than I can count on my fingers and toes, but two daily driver AWD wagons of mine have a very special spot in my heart. My 2003 AWD Subaru Outback and 2006 AWD Ford Freestyle Limited. Both tanks in the snow and both comfortable, reliable, durable and somewhat enjoyable to drive lol. Was actually thinking about slamming my Freestyle, swapping a 3.7 in it and doing an SSP Police Interceptor type tribute build.
Love it!
Great video, only issue was the sound! Chasing the volume dial the whole way through.
So cool, love station wagons
In Europe there were T123 with Benzin Engines basic model was the 200T followed by the 230TE and 250T and 280TE. Diesel powered Models were the 200TD the 240TD and the 300 TD Turbo
You can't beat a Wagon, or an estate as we call them in Sheffield Magnus! Ever since I had kids its always been looking at cool through the eyes of practicality. Ask Tom Cotter, now that man LOVES a wagon!! Fair play Magnus, a break from the norm (Porache)
I love this channel. Dont forget about Barn find hunter tho!
I do buy what I like, and I adore my two 1988 E34 sedans! Best of old simple technology meeting modern handling and amazing sounds and just the right amout of sound isolation and comfort for my taste, and nothing looks better in my mind!
Its hard to see, but when the light hits the side of the Cressida Woody there's this gorgeous swept body line that almost looks out of place, but it works. Look for it @12m50s.

Australia here. My old dad always drove Ford station wagons. I think he was onto something there.
Nice bit of brush work on the 300 TD Merc. lol My daily is a 2005 BA Falcon wagon. Inline 6 DOHC variable timing 4L.

People are also going more classic as new car prices are insane. I can buy a heap, get it restored and daily driven for $15k and it will either hold or appreciate. They just aren't as safe as the new cars. If I had young children I wouldn't go old steel.
My high school job was parking cars at a local mercedes dealership, the parking garage was ontop of the showroom. One of these diesel wagons came in (non turbo) and it would not make it up the ramp. It got VIP parking in the showroom till it got worked on haha
🔥🔥🔥 such a nice looking wagon! I regret selling mine
I bought a '93 camry wagon today with the 4cycl 2.2l 5sfe engine (the gas engine of diesels (they get tired at 500k miles). Not too pretty but there are scenes in Japan that seriously dressed these up. Upgrades I'd make are air struts and lighter wheels for mpg gains. punchy little 4 cycle that drives around the sierra's totally fine without the ECT (overdrive mode). bought it haul the dogs to what i need it to, snow included in the mix. highly underrated and i expect this to outlive me. i have power windows so it didn't come with a manual... i too, plan on a manual swap with a dual centerforce clutch. There's a traditional idea that if you want power windows in a toyota, it was always auto but when you're revving down a track the idea of auto windows when short shifting is just the proper mix of speed and and proper, air cooling.
