I would tear down the stool and see if it’s a beauty underneath, if not upholster with that beautiful needlepoint. I like the roses needlepoint with that frame.. very 70’s vibe ❤

I LOVE the original upholstery on the stool with those button accents. I get a "Mad Men" vibe from it. I'm in the minority here, but I say leave it as is.

The needlepoint looks pretty on the stool but I would not use it for that. I would save it to replace a damaged piece and sell the stool as is, bcs it's cute, in good condition and it will sell. Someone will probably love it! But if it doesn't sell as is, you'd still have the option to recover it later.

The stool’s legs are great. That fabric is sad 70’s (trust me, I was there). The wood underneath might be nice but probably not. The needlepoint’s floral motif (very nice) is too round for the oval stool. It could look forced and ill fitting. Remove the 70’s, keep the buttons. If the wood needs covering … drill 4 holes where the buttons are, glue down foam, cover the stool in fabric, reattach the buttons with wire, then floss to cover the wire. Also include buttons on the bottom. Pull the buttons tightish to create dimension. What a fun surprise to have buttons on the bottom. For the fabric, repurposing an unusable quilt or chenille or flour sack or corduroy- something textural and recycled. Just a thought. The chunky needle point, needs that chunky frame (trust me, I’m chunky, too). Cut a piece of cardboard for the frame’s back opening (only slightly smaller). Push the needlepoint into the frame with the cardboard. You’ll know immediately. The frame needs the cardboard no matter what. Then style the chunky framed rose on a dresser top. The chunky frame is probably able to free stand. Another surprising and unexpected use of an object d’art. Sorry I didn’t agree about the needlepoint. LOVE, love your sunglasses!!

I would leave this stool alone because it is adorable. The hardware underneath are called tacks. I used to take the tacks out of my dad's shoes for 1 penny apiece back in the 60's. He was a master upholsterer. I find so many old stools that are in bad shape. Those are the ones to do over, plus the needlepoint you have needs something more feminine to go on. imho ❣ Noelle Stiles

You may know this already but with crostitch and needlework pieces, beofre you frame them, put a fluffy towel down on your ironing board (or table if no board) and set iron to steam, put project front sike down and press the back side. Using a towel, allows the piece to look more profeshional and kinda puffs it up. I've done alot of counted crosstitch, but now have macular degerneration so can no longer do it due to low vision. Love your channel! Sorry for my typos. :)

Definitely remove the existing cover on the stool. I like the needlepoint for the stool but cant commit because I dont know what is under the ugly fabric. I think that smaller needlepoint looks great in the chunky frame. It is a bold floral and can handle it. if you need it to be a bit larger to fit you could always add a couple of rows of needlepoint in a "frame" of coordinating color around the current needlework.

Hi Andi. Regarding the stool - i like the original fabric and think it looks good, but the buttons should go. However, covering it with the needlepoint would be really fabulous. If you do use the needlepoint I would find a way to tack it to a thin piece of plywood or some thin board, and then tacking that to the stool. I worry about the needlepoint coming undone if you just tack it on with nails to the original stool like it is now.

Instead of covering the stool with the needlepoint, I think the needlepoint should be framed instead. With the light background of the needlepoint I can picture it getting dirty too quickly if it has people actually putting their feet up on it and it would be hard to clean. You definitely need to recover the stool though as the existing fabric doesn’t look good to me and no to the buttons either. Of course it the existing wood looks good by itself recovering would not be necessary.

I think the flower needlepoint/tapestry is much too beautiful for the stool. I think the stool is fine the way it is. I think the tapestry deserves a beautiful or even simple frame to display it. I also think the big thick frame is too chunky for the flower needlepoint. I love the green ornate framed object which looks like decoupage to me. Your taste is beautiful, and it is much appreciated.

With so many newly manufactured pieces on Etsy now, I don’t think you need to worry. Anytime I can get my hands on a vintage decor book or old magazine, that helps me identify the ceramics of that period.

Brass is not a thing where I live in California. So strange how different areas are.

Do you charge a fee when you pick up something in a video for a client?

I tell them I’m going to mark the item up. Usually I can get content out of the trip, so I don’t usually charge a trip fee. If I had to go somewhere far out of my way, I would charge more.

Have you done a chat with Etsy support? They may be able to help your resolve any issues with setup. This YT video could help too: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4mcmKtwqJC2ZMo.htmlsi=IKOnKRjimqWW3li7

I would change out the stool with the needlepoint. The frame does not look good to me with the bright newish rose needlepoint, imho. An old small oil painting, maybe abstract would look good with that chunky frame.

Your antique store prices are incredibly cheap compared to Dallas. Also, please call the “bird” an eagle which it clearly is. Eagles aren’t just any old bird.
