Bro thank you thank you thank you!! I sometimes have to sit back and realize how crazy that is
regarding the granddad shirt: it’s a pretty common style in asia, uniqlo calls it stand collar shirts. in the philippine context it kinda looks like the barong tagalog and the camisa de chino. the barong tagalog isn’t tucked in and are typically worn on formal occasions such as graduation ceremonies. my university requires men to wear barong tagalog along with our sablay which is our academic regalia instead of a toga. the camisa de chino (literally shirt of chinese) is usually worn casually from what i’ve seen.
Big thing I love about Tokyo is that wealth of knowledge people have for the vintage clothing. Store clerks often have encyclopaedic knowledge of so many types of garments. They can look at an Adidas jacket and tell by the stitching/zips/buttons etc whether it’s 70’s 80’s 90s 2000s or whatever , it’s a really passion and dedication for craft. The stores are much more curated than vintage stores in the US or Europe.
The "no influencers allowed" sign at Kapital @14:30 😂😂
Drew! Been watching your videos on shoes/footwear recently and noticed that your socks collection is pretty neat, would love to see a fun little video on them!!

The amount of people I see trying to say shimokitazawa, but saying it wrong is a lot. Props to you for adding an edit in addressing it. Not an easy one to say if you're not real familiar with Japanese.
Garms is now officially out there in the wild
I saw you in Omotesando when you were in Japan! I was too nervous to talk to you, couldn’t say hey to you😢😢 But I'm glad you enjoyed Japan🇯🇵

shimokitazawa is such a vibe bro, probably one of my favorite area in tokyo
this makes me even more hyped for my trip to japan in October, great vibes!
Doing shopping research before going is definitely a good idea. I was overwhelmed with little time! I also had more fun outside of Tokyo than in the city
Thrifting in Japan is one of the greatest experiences. Love your content, I can’t wait to visit Japan again.

Loving your content! Ragla Magla was my favorite store that I visited in Shimolitazawa. Didn’t get any clothes from there but I definitely got a native style silver cuff. I’ll definitely make time to go to a Beams+ store next time I’m in Japan, but overall the shopping experience there is amazing, and you’ll definitely need a limit for the amount of stuff you buy 😂.
Your girls gorp'd out in the mountain hardware and waterproof pants!
Drew i loVE the thumbnail. Keep up the good work!
Hopefully get to go to japan in the end of the year cant wait to shop around and watch a bunch of wrestling

HEY kislux !! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
#pvv I'm actually going to Shibuya this summer with my family! So I'm super excited to try out the food, planning to buy onitsuka tigers, and honestly just to explore. Your tips of planning out what stores to visit is definitely helpful since I tend to get overwhelmed and easily get distracted looking at stuff

Hey man awesome vid what type of camera and lens do u use for the vid?
the grandadshirt is nice bro, I would tuck in the shirt for a formal thing
Totally tuck them in.
Stumbled across your channel last night while doing some Japanese Selvedge denim youtube research because I’m actually headed to Asia tomorrow (#pvv)! Really serendipitous that you’re releasing all this Japan content now for me to soak up! Keep up the quality content, subscribed ✅.

En el momento en que vi el bolso kislux , supe que tenía que tenerlo.
I don't tuck my grandad collar shirts. Beams flagship in Shinjuku is an awesome store. Ragtag, Kindal and Kinji stores are decent. You could go a month or two in Tokyo and not get through the vintage stores - it's pretty crazy.
Do you know if any of these store mentioned carries men's XXL?
Garms is such a London word 😂
There's this Nigerian-Korean model Han hyun min. You guys can pass as brothers! This is my first time watching your videos and I was like you look so familiar !
Next time u're in Japan, u should go queue up for goro's, it's gonna take a couple of hours but it's a pilgrimage, remember to bring cash though, lot's of it
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
I needed some socks when I was in Japan. I wear a 12. We went to a store that only sold socks. He looked at my feet and said "oh no!!!" 😂 He took me to a back corner of the shop where they had one small rack for people with freakishly large feet. 😂😂😂

How can I search for that vintage New York cap? Does it have a specific name?😅

I put them all over collars and hats that I already own!
Where is that sando place?
Do you have any stores that I can order from that ship to the us New Jersey to be specific
With the grandad shirt, they were the thing in Edwardian fashion, being tucked into very high waisted trousers held up by braces, and they were collarless because you would attach starched collars via a pin on the back and the button on the front. Very fiddly by today's standard. You can see old European grandad shirts are quite long to tuck in, there's some vintage fashion tiktokers who show off Edwardian outfits styling these shirts
hi drew! was it easy to transport around japan with just english? like taking ubers and trains etc/ google maps (im thinking of solo traveling but dont know any japanese)
@DrewJoiner
22 күн бұрын
There are no ubers in Japan! it's a huge thing. BUT, yes using trains and taxis was pretty easy. Worse case just use a translation app

Grandad collar shirts in heavy cotton with stripes as usually workers shirts, so mills, manual labour etc, you’d have one shirt and you’d just swap out the collar for occasion and to keep the shirt “clean” the upper class would of have more bespoke of a wardrobe with finer shirts of higher quality
21:09 a beautiful chongus appears
shimokitazawaまで言わなくても「shimokita」で充分通じますよ😂
These to me are curated vintage shops (with not so cheap prices) rather than true un-curated thrift shops. Props to curated shops though.
+1 on having a list of brands or stores you want to visit. Personally I found the Beams+ stores a waste of time in that they're just boring department shopping stores lacking a unique experience compared to places like Kapital.
