“Step Away from THE HORSE.” 😀😊😂

My mom and I go every Saturday to the thrift shops, she loves a treasure hunt. She's 87 years old and you would think she was a child heading to Disneyland as excited as she gets. If she were to go to those stores you showed us she would never leave! I love these kinds of videos where we get to learn more about Norway and see the actual city and stores. Stay safe and warm!

You two really got me laughing today- my husband and I have had so many conversations like you about not needing the rocking horse (or whatever interesting non-essential). Darn! Just like Arne, I don't always get my way! But maybe Arne has a horse surprise in his future! Thank you for taking us along on your shopping trip.

The porcelain knitting girl you admired in the first shop is very familiar to me. My grandmother had one sitting on her grand piano as long as I can remember, at least from the early 1960s and possibly much longer than that. When she passed away at the age of 96, my sister and I had to restrain ourselves from having a heated argument over who would get to keep it. I had to give in since my sister is older. She very kindly bought another of the same figurine for me. It is a treasured family heirloom which reminds us so much of the loving grandmother who sewed and knitted for us when we were little girls. I think it is Royal Copenhagen, but it could have been made by the other famous Danish porcelain manufacturer (the name of which escapes me). Between us, we own many of these lovely porcelain treasures.

Beautiful old spinning wheel. You dont need the horse. No space. You have to start down-sizing. The retro furniture wish I could have. Just as well I live on the other side of the world. I would end up broke. That jacket you tried on Arne, is nice.

Arne, you looked like you were tempted to sneak back and get that horse, except you you knew what Carlos told you was the right thing to do. You are so right for each other. Happy Valentine’s Day in advance

The camera & video editing is FABULOUS. The music and sound levels are just right, the timing of everything is lovely. It's like a perfect conversation. Thank you, SOOOO nice.

I love these guys. They are so respectful of each other. And you can see how they love each other. It’s beautiful to see in a world filled with so much discontent.

Now THAT is a thrift store! I know you will be in Reno, CA soon, and there is a wonderful antique shop in Minden, NV, about 45 miles away. Well worth a visit.

Loved that brown (?) mini dress that Arne held up at I Sustain. I'm vintage myself and remember wearing stuff like that in the late 60s - early 70s. These days a dress like that would be considered a tunic with leggings. We didn't mind showing our legs back then. 🙂

Oooooh Oooooh Ooooooh Oooooh Guys! I know you're not spinners, but you walked by four? five? spinning wheels that made my heart nearly go into an arrhythmia! Especially the super slanty one which we don't see very often over here on the West Coast of USA. Next time you go into a shop like that, could you please, please linger for a few seconds to allow us to focus on them? And maybe even give them a brief look? I loved the furniture! I have my parents teak Scandinavian dining room set from the 1970s which I will keep and pass down. I loved the rocking horse also.

OMG, I would have to take a picnic lunch and stay in that shop all day...

OMG! I have that same Royal Copenhagen young girl knitting statue!❤ I was my father's mother's. She was born in Denmark and was an avid knitter. I never had a chance to get to know her, but her love of knitting lives through to me and now to my daughter and Mt granddaughters. Lovely legacy!

If you are able to travel to Oakland, California, USA, in late January to the end of February, you will have a great time at the annual White Elephant Sale that supports the museum. It’s a 90,000 square foot warehouse with 17 departments. They have everything. It’s worth a trip out here!

`My heart leapt when I saw you had uploaded a vintage shopping and thrifting video. Antikkvarehuset is most definitely on my itinerary when I come to Norway in the summer. I do hope Arne bought the jacket in Glassmagasinet. It fit him so well. Shame you have no space for the horse, but it wouldn't surprise me if it magically appeared in a future video. 😉 I wish you could have seen the 'knowing look' my husband gave me when you were discussing why Arne shouldn't buy it. I used to go to garage sales with my aunt every weekend. She would follow them in the adverts in the paper. If it looked junky when we drove by we would keep on going, So many fond memories with her

Yes when you see what is available on the second hand market why would you ever pay full price? You can find anything you want eventually if you look around. The shops you showed us are amazing. Thank you for taking us along. It was fun.

That was amazing! But as a wool spinner I wish you would let us get a good look at the spinning wheels that we only get tantalizing glimpses of! Surely you have some fans who spin? I have seen so many wheels over your shoulder or sitting to the side of the rocking horse or over by your path through the store…..it’s maddening! But it’s still fun to see what catches your eye.

The horse! I had a love of carousel horse but could never afford one, so I look at them in museum and then ride the ones in the mall. I am probably one of the oldest grandparents to do so. Most adults just sit in those boring seats and watch their grandchildren ride the horses.

Poor Arne, he really wanted that rocking horse, but Carlos is Arnes conscience 😂. I had to clench my teeth when you were in the first shop, all the customers wearing their padded jackets, and hoping no-one would accidentally knock something over and break it. I especially loved this episode, as living in Australia, we don't have a lot of shops like these, filled with so many Antiques. We do have antique shops, but not with "European" treasures. I hope we get to go shopping with you again soon. Maybe supermarket shopping ?😉 Have a lovely day
