Vintage National Capsule Type MC-2100 Bagless Vacuum Cleaner First Look

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A rather unusual vacuum cleaner made in Japan by National. The Capsule stores everything inside for compact storage, features a filter cleaning system, remote on/off control, blowing facility, bin full indicator and automatic cord rewind. No idea of when this cleaner was made, but I would guess late 60s early 70s.

National, Matsushita and Panasonic are all basically the same co. so this is effectively an early Panasonic machine. Interesting stuff!

Matsushita is the real Japanese corporate name - pronounced “Motsooshta”….Panasonic and National are brandnames owned by the company. In North America, we rarely saw the name National….it was mostly Panasonic over the decades.

Oh wow. What a beautiful machine. I would have loved to have one of the bran new factory fresh. It reminds me a lot of a cooler for drinks or a camper.

As soon as I saw that vacuum the first thing I thought of was that falafel van in the middle of Leeds.

Some people watch horror movies…some people watch that Dr Pimple Popper stuff…we watch Ibaisaic videos and shriek, cringe, and cover our eyes when Roger closes a super old filter caked in dirt!!! Haha What a fascinating little vacuum! It does look like a retro toy…like a Barbie camper or something I would have had in the early 80s.

I can't decide if it makes me weird or not but I just sat here and realized that I would have been really disappointed had you not shown us the footage of you vacuuming out the filter what kind of person does that make me. I love you videos

Yes, the machine should operate from the hose switch when in AUTO. Likely a faulty hose switch, wiring or contacts at the machine coupler end.

It's a weird little thing but I expect that in a older japanese vac. Like a japanese version of a hoover portable.

Tall Electrolux. That’s what it looks like to me. I can see how more modern Panasonic (or Kenmore) canister machines evolved from this as most of them are powered on and off from the handle.

This reminds me of that Toyota vacuum cleaner I saw on eBay. Yes, Toyota. It was also in this same kind of style but a bit more shaped like a tin of ham. It was something like $275 and someone bought it. Never surfaced again. There is several collectors that use their pensions to buy up one of a kind vacuums, throw them in a barn, hoard them, then they die, all the vacuums go to the landfill that they paid $500 to $4,000 for and then you never see or hear from them again.

This vacuum cleaner is the overseas version of the MC-2000 vacuum cleaner released in Japan in the late 1960s. As you say, Japanese houses at the time were very small, and it was necessary to devise ways to store things. The reason Japanese vacuum cleaners can't clean carpets well is that they aren't optimized for carpet cleaning because of carpets weren't common in Japanese houses that time.

I suspect it's not as complicated as you think I bet it's just a bunch of cams belts and gears And probably not even a bunch probably as little as they can to make it work. But who knows I'd love to get to see the inside of it though love no love to get the CD inside of it I would love to get to have you watched any of those channels where they do restores I would maybe be interested in watching your restore a vacuum cleaner
