Saw the Stones in Vegas at the new Raiders Stadium last year. One band I had never seen and definitely a bucket list band. I thought it was now or never even it was with a (78 yr old Jagger - Keith - Ronnie and unfortunately no Charlie) How did they sound??? FUCKING INCREDIBLE! Keith’s and Ronnie’s guitars were LOUD, DIRTY n RAUNCHY sounding and Mick looking like a 20 yr old kid sprinting down the stage that reached out and into the crowd…they blew me away!!! “Gimmie Shelter” was mind-blowing - outstanding!!! LOVED IT

What an incredible box set. I have always wondered about the sound quality. That set is definitely on my want list. Congratulations on finding such a beautiful set in great condition. Take care.

Melinda, unless you get a good deal, the box is not worth it. It has that early MfSL mastering, and only LIT and BB sound good.

Did you say a little sticker that reads "LAST"? Last is a vinyl cleaning/protection product that's been around since the 80's (at least). They would give you little silver stickers that read "Last" that you would put on the label (or somewhere else) after you treated the record. A very good product. There's actually a story about a repress of Rough Mix by Pete Townshend that used Michael Fremer's copy of the album cover as a scan and he had a Last sticker on the back which made its way into the repress.

Ahh! That's terrific, now I know, uh, "at Last"! The record store had thought it might have been the UK used store, hence the guess. Funny enough, when I spotted Chad Kasem showing off his new stash of UHQR I spotted a LAST sticker there! The cleaning makes more sense, and shows that sometime in April 1985 the owner cleaned the records and then, presumably, stored them for four decades.

@@jasongorber6968 Yep. I noticed that sticker in Chad's video, too! Many of my records still have the last sticker on them. They're still around... lookup The Last Factory. The preservative is kinda pricey.

Nice find! When first released, fans complained about this box not matching the very high standard that MoFi set w/the Beatles Collection (i.e. mixing UK & US versions of the early albums & not having pics of the original master tape boxes, altho’ that would have been difficult w/how the Stones recorded in different studios). But it has become an audiophile holy grail. I can sense by your enthusiasm that whatever you paid, it is more than worth it.

Yeah, it's pretty wild, especially given the drama of "master tape" sources of late...nice to be reminded that people have been complaining since the very start :)

True story - a friend of mine found this at a yard sale for $10 a few years back. They still have it. They were blown away when I told them what it goes for now.

I kind of was wary, but on my (higher-end) setup I'm extremely pleased with how it sounds, compared directly to first US/Canadian and the newer releases.

Nice video, great set. I picked up this box a few months ago from a local record store. The latch is broken and there was no Geo-Disc, but oddly I already had one so added it to this set. The vinyl was all near mint. The local shop gives a $10 credit for every $100 spent and I had just been saving those up since the beginning of the pandemic. I finally used half of my amassed credit on this box to knock 70% off the price. I hate the covers, and it's odd how they mixed UK and US releases for this set, but I feel lucky to have it (#925/5000).

The covers are stupid, yes (as I mention, even a small version like on the front of the One Step inners would have been smarter), but for the sound it's mighty. Lose the Geodisc (!) and add hardcover book and decades later it all would be that much better

In '87 I bought a mint (unplayed) copy of this box for about $125.00 from a record store owner who had to liquidate his personal collection to finance a divorce from hell. Two years later during a money drought I attempted to sell it to a used record store for whatever I could get. I was told, 'I can't use it' (used vinyl was moving slowly then). Well, this box was meant to be in my collection, I guess! Anyway, it is pressed on dead quiet vinyl, and the later records in particular sound fantastic...

Great stuff! However, slow down, you’re talking a little fast here. It’s may be hard for others to absorb the large amount of information you’re sharing. Great box set, thanks for sharing!🎧

I got a comp copy of the mono boxed set, which I ripped onto files of course, but it was challenging to acquire hi-res album artwork graphics that can be affixed to the FLAC albums while playing on the music player app. Looking for minimum 640x640. - Red

I think Amazon UK was the only site that had a re-release showing and that page is gone. My pre-order for it still shows as pending, but if I click the link on my receipt it pulls up an error page. Hopefully it comes, but I won't be too surprised if it doesn't.

I know I'm late here - but....... does anyone know what the deal is with the "mystery envelope" that seems to have come with (some?) of these Stones box sets? Mine does not have it. It doesn't appear that the person that posted this video has it either, or he would have shown it for sure. I see some for sale that have this extra content. Don't know what's in the envelope, some xtra info and a cert I believe. Anybody out there know anything about this?

In the 90s, Mobile Fidelity records were the worst I’ve ever heard. I’ll never try mofi again. It’s not the vinyl quality, the masters sound like a wet noodle.
