You're the Macgyver of RC boating Big B! Nice work, and I agree that it's far more rewarding when you find solutions in you're own workshop. That outboard is now officially ironcladed out! Should hold out well. Getting the hull to cooperate is going to be the next challenge. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. Cheers!

I have a hornet f1 boat with the same outboard.I've had to make my own flexshafts and did the same as you in this video. I soldered my shaft instead of jbweld.and have had good results. I've just had problems with prop selection you know to big or to small. Will take your advice on the props that you've mentioned. I run my boat on 3a and am going to try a 4s upgrade. Love your videos. Keep up the good work.

Bro, Really, the motor looks great but that hull lacks. Your good at fabrication so pop a mold-off that sucker and build a worthy hull.

Doing restorations of vintage RC’s I agree it’s fun to find stuff I’ve got on hand to make it work rather than trolling eBay for a discontinued part that’s gonna cost me triple what it’s worth

Great and informative video as usual Big B 👍 The tell-tale signs of a true hobbyist 1. Uses what’s on hand to make things work. 2. Modifies tools to get the job done. 3. Uses electrical tape as both bandages and hatch tape. I have the kyosho Wave Master, you have the better made tunnel (hull) from that era. Some of the most RC fun I’ve had trying to get that wave master to sail on just its hind quarters like the real ones. Keep the vids coming 👍 BGFL

Nice fix Big B. I would recommend using a small metal rod as a prop saver behind the prop. Without one, if your flex shaft breaks, you could easily loose the prop shaft assembly. Regarding the handling; tunnels can corner great without any skid fin and a 3rd servo for angle adjustment is not required. It sounds advanced, but just no need. This tunnel needs a bigger sponson dead rise and sharp inside sponson edges. You could try to add a wooden or abs strip and use filler to sharpen the sponson edges. It will bite in the water and not oversteer. Mark my words 😎✌

I see Matts not a fan of those teflon bushings. This side of the pond we tend to use them in pairs in the stub shaft of just about anything that moves fast, the teflon coating is only on the inside face , so cant be allowed to move in the housing . Regards PJB

Those Teflon bushings are basically in in all running gear from 1/8 to 1/4 inch struts and stingers...

love this tunnel haul project brother! ive dug out my old Kyosho wavemaster and beefed up the haul with balsa and resin, and also doing a brushless conversion to the Dolphin outboard! i am missing the motor mount for the dolphin outboard, any ideas where i might be able to find one? or a 3d print file to print my own

If you email me, (email in description) I can send some photos if you're gonna build one. I think 4 post shims 25mm tall and a piece of aluminum for the motor mount will work. I really Don't think you'll find a motor mount for the Dolphin Outboard

@@IRONCLADRC absolutely! I totally agree with trying to fab something myself haha you gave me the important info I needed ! The height , that’s perfect man , I will keep in touch. First you got me hooked and I got crazy into a sonic wake and stealthwake . Now you’ve got me back into my old tunnel haul and dolphin outboard that I never could get to go fast, tried everything brushed and NICD that I could and still wasn’t fast hahaha this brushless conversion is gonna be great ! Just did my order with Offshore for the flex shaft and bushing tube you used ! Also Ordered a 4519 for my SonicWake . Thanks for the info and motivation man love you videos keep it going

Impossible to find 4mm or even a 3/16 bore 4 blade prop. Usually they come in larger sizes like 50 plus millimeters.

thats the same stupid bushing design that slipped up towardd the motors direction in the cheap alimiium ul 19 harware and destroyed the stuffing tube flex shaft and transom. get that outta there. we used to make larger carbon fiber plane plates to hold it down better that fit right on above the prop
